The Boston Celtics travel to Texas on Tuesday night for a high-profile clash with the San Antonio Spurs in a game that features two of the NBA’s top contenders. Boston enters the contest with a 43-21 record and one of the league’s best defensive profiles, while San Antonio sits at 47-17 and has been one of the hottest teams in the league during the past month. Both teams have been piling up victories lately, making this Celtics vs Spurs meeting especially intriguing.
Pick: San Antonio Spurs -3.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: 3 out of 5
Both teams enter this game in excellent form, which makes it one of the most appealing games on the schedule. San Antonio has been nearly unstoppable at home recently, winning 8 straight games in its own arena while consistently covering spreads in favorable spots.
The Celtics bring a different strength. Boston owns the top scoring defense in the league, allowing just 106.9 points per game. That defense has helped them stay competitive while managing injuries and integrating Jayson Tatum back into the lineup after his long absence.
San Antonio already defeated Boston earlier this season and will attempt to repeat that result behind its young star Victor Wembanyama, who continues to produce elite two-way numbers. The matchup between Boston’s perimeter offense and the Spurs’ length is likely to decide the outcome.
San Antonio Spurs
Boston Celtics
Team | Points per game | Points allowed per game | Field Goal % | Rebounds per game | Assists per game |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Boston Celtics | 114.5 | 106.9 | 47% | 46.4 | 24.5 |
San Antonio Spurs | 118.6 | 111.5 | 48% | 46.4 | 27.3 |
Score Projection: Spurs 118 – Celtics 112 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Spurs 60%, Celtics 40% ATS PRO
This matchup features two elite teams trending in the right direction. Boston’s defense and three-point shooting always give them a chance, especially with Tatum returning to the lineup. However, San Antonio’s current form is difficult to ignore. The Spurs are dominating opponents at home and have won 15 of their last 16 games while receiving outstanding production from Victor Wembanyama. With their strong home record and offensive balance, San Antonio appears slightly better positioned in this spot. Laying the points with the Spurs is the move I'm making in this contest.
