The Atlanta Hawks head to Dallas on Wednesday night riding one of the hottest streaks in the league, while the Dallas Mavericks are stuck in a difficult stretch marked by losses and roster issues. With Atlanta stacking wins and Dallas searching for answers, the visitors come into this Hawks vs Mavericks matchup as the favorites.
Atlanta enters this contest in peak form, carrying a 10-game winning streak after a 124-112 win over Orlando. The offense has been explosive during this stretch, consistently clearing 120 points while getting contributions from multiple players. The Hawks are also climbing the Eastern Conference standings and pushing for a playoff spot.
Dallas, on the other hand, has dropped 12 of its last 14 games and is dealing with injuries and inconsistent production. The Mavericks recently lost 129-111 to New Orleans and have struggled defensively, allowing high point totals on a nightly basis. The team is also leaning heavily on younger players and role pieces, which has led to uneven results.
These teams met just over a week ago, with Atlanta winning 124-112 in a game that was not as close as the final score suggests. The Hawks built a large early lead and controlled the game for most of the night.
Dallas Mavericks
Atlanta Hawks
Stat | Hawks | Mavericks |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 117.8 | 113.2 |
Points allowed per game | 116.6 | 118.2 |
Team Field Goal % | 47% | 47% |
Rebounds per game | 43.5 | 44.9 |
Assists per game | 30.4 | 25.1 |
Atlanta has been one of the most reliable teams in the league over the past two weeks, combining efficient scoring with strong ball movement. The Hawks are averaging over 30 assists per game and have multiple players capable of leading the team in scoring on any given night. That balance makes them difficult to defend, especially for a Dallas team that has struggled to contain opposing offenses.
The Mavericks do have some individual talent, but the current roster situation and recent results suggest they are overmatched in this spot. Even at home, their defensive issues and lack of consistent scoring depth are hard to ignore. Unless Dallas finds a way to slow the pace and limit Atlanta’s perimeter shooting, the Hawks should control this game again and I expect Atlanta to cover the number as a favorite.
