The Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers will meet in Game 3 of their National League Division Series on Wednesday night. The Dodgers took a 2-0 lead in this series on the road and have a chance to complete a sweep back at Dodger Stadium here. Los Angeles is a sizable favorite to finish the job and move onto the NLCS with a win in this game. Before the first pitch from LA, continue reading to get my Phillies vs Dodgers Game 3 prediction.
The Dodgers will go with Yoshinobu Yamamoto to start Game 3. Yamamoto is off to a great start to his postseason, throwing 6.2 shutout innings with nine strikeouts thus far. The Phillies will give the ball to Aaron Nola. This is a somewhat surprising choice, given that Nola enters his first playoff start of 2025 with a 6.01 ERA for the year. But manager Rob Thomson opted for Nola in this elimination scenario. The Dodgers have a clear starting pitching advantage going into this game.
On the Phillies’ side, Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, and Kyle Schwarber have to collectively rediscover their October rhythm. So far in this series, they’ve gone just 2-21 with 11 strikeouts. Nick Castellanos nearly revived the Phillies in Game 2 with a two-run double in the ninth, but the Phillies fell just short in their comeback attempt.
For the Dodgers, Teoscar Hernandez has been a key contributor throughout the postseason. If Shohei Ohtani continues to slump during these playoffs, Hernandez's contributions will be even more important to LA's success.
The Dodgers have won five straight postseason games at Dodger Stadium, dating back to last season. They have won their first four playoff games overall in 2025. The Phillies are 0-2 so far in these playoffs after receiving a bye past the Wild Card round.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Teoscar Hernández | Over 1.5 Total Bases |
Kyle Schwarber | Under 1.5 Total Bases |
Aaron Nola | Under 5.5 Strikeouts |
Yoshinobu Yamamoto | Over 5.5 Strikeouts |
Score Projection: Phillies 3 — Dodgers 5
Win Probability: Phillies 30%, Dodgers 70%
Everything is pointing the way of the Dodgers going into Game 3 of this series. The Dodgers have a starting pitching edge, their bullpen has been more consistent, and Los Angeles is back at home for this contest. I expect Los Angeles to win and cover the runline as a favorite tonight, moving onto the NLCS in style.
