The Philadelphia Phillies will host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 of their NLDS series on Monday night. LA heads into this one with momentum after a gritty 5–3 road win to steal home-field advantage in Game 1. The Phillies are fighting to even the series at home in front of what should be a raucous crowd at Citizens Bank Park. Before the first pitch from Philadelphia, continue reading to get my Dodgers vs Phillies Game 2 prediction.
Blake Snell enters this contest with a 5–4 record and a 2.35 ERA in the regular season. His first start of the postseason was encouraging, as he gave up two runs over seven innings of work against the Cincinnati Reds. He’s shown the ability to suppress big offenses and that ability will be put to the test against the dangerous lineup of the Phillies.
Jesús Luzardo posted a 15–7 record with a 3.92 ERA and 216 strikeouts in the regular season. This will be his first appearance of the 2025 postseason after the Phillies secured a bye through the Wild Card round. His second-half form was impressive and he will try to build on that in this must-win matchup for Philadelphia.
On the Dodgers’ side, Shohei Ohtani could be more dangerous at the plate than he was in Game 1 now that he isn't pitching. Teoscar Hernández delivered a three-run homer in Game 1 to shift the game's momentum toward the Dodgers and he will try to deliver another big hit to help his team win this contest.
The top three hitters in the Philadelphia lineup will be key in this contest. Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber, and Bryce Harper went a combined 1-11 at the plate in Game 1. If the Phillies want to avoid having an abbreviated stay in the postseason, those three will need to be more productive at the plate.
The Dodgers enter riding an eight-game win streak, including a sweep in the wild-card round. The Phillies, after a long layoff, struggled to hold a Game 1 lead. They have lost two of their last three games coming into this game and are looking to avoid an 0-2 deficit in this series.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Shohei Ohtani | Over 1.5 Total Bases |
Kyle Schwarber | Under 1.5 Total Bases |
The Phillies won the regular-season series against the Dodgers by a 4-2 margin. But the Dodgers got the win in the opening game of this series. If Philadelphia can't respond, they will have to win three straight games to advance, including two straight in Los Angeles in Games 3 and 4.
Score Projection: Dodgers 5 – Phillies 4
Win Probability: Dodgers 54%, Phillies 46%
The Dodgers are playing excellent baseball at the perfect time. Their top hitters have been more consistent at the plate and that should make the difference in this contest. I will go with the Dodgers to win this contest and take a 2-0 series lead before the action heads to Los Angeles.
