The Houston Astros will face the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. The Astros are a game out of the final American League Wild Card spot with just days left in the regular season. They need to win the majority of their games in this series to have a chance to make it into postseason play. Before the first game of this huge series begins, continue reading to get my Astros vs Angels prediction for Friday night.
On the mound for Houston is Jason Alexander. He enters with a 4-2 record and a 4.83 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. He’s had mixed results recently and is not necessarily who the Astros want on the hill in a spot this important. Kyle Hendricks will get the start for the Angels in this contest. He carries an 8-10 record with a 4.79 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. The Astros have had success against Angels starters and will try to continue to do so against Hendricks here.
Houston has seen turbulence lately. They snapped a five-game losing streak with an 11-5 win over Oakland on Thursday. Prior to that, they had multiple games where their offense stalled. The Angels have lost eight of their last 10 games and have settled at the bottom of the AL West standings for the season.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Jose Altuve | Over 0.5 Home Runs |
Carlos Correa | Over 1.5 Total Bases |
Jason Alexander | Over 4.5 Strikeouts |
Score Projection: Astros 5 – Angels 3
Win Probability: Astros 58%, Angels 42%
Houston enters this game with a sense of urgency, a more balanced lineup, and a slight edge in the pitching matchup. I think that we will see the Astros get a win in this game to keep pressure on the Red Sox and Tigers. With Boston and Detroit playing against each other, someone has to lose that game, and the Astros should take advantage by winning this series opener on the road.
