The Houston Astros will visit the Athletics in Sacramento on Wednesday night. The Astros have reached a critical point in their season as they have gone from AL West leaders to outside of the Wild Card spots in the American League. They have to win games like this one to get back into the playoff picture. Before Houston tries to do that at the expense of the A's, you can continue reading to get my Astros vs Athletics prediction for tonight.
Hunter Brown (12-8, 2.30 ERA) takes the mound for the Astros. He is a dominant presence on the mound and he is just the pitcher that the Astros would want to start in a game this important. His impressive ERA and high strikeout rate make him a difficult for any team to deal with, especially a struggling team like the Athletics. Luis Severino (7-11, 4.72 ERA) starts for the A's in this contest. While Severino has had some strong outings, his inconsistency this season presents an opportunity for the Astros to capitalize upon.
The Astros are currently on a four-game losing streak, placing additional pressure on them to perform here. The Athletics played with heart late in the season, securing a 5-1 victory in the series opener. They are 3-2 over their last five games.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Hunter Brown | Over 7.5 Strikeouts |
Nick Kurtz | 1+ Home Run |
Jose Altuve | Over 0.5 RBIs |
There has not been a one-run game between the A's and Astros this season despite there being 11 games played between them. I expect that trend to continue tonight, as the winner of this game will likely get the win by two runs or more. I think that team will be the Astros, thanks to the superior starting pitching of Hunter Brown.
