The Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers will face off on the final day of the 2025 MLB season on Sunday afternoon. The Reds have everything to play for in this contest. A win or a Mets loss would send Cincinnati to the postseason, while the Brewers have locked up the top seed in the upcoming playoffs. Before this important game begins in Milwaukee on Sunday, continue reading to get my Reds vs Brewers prediction.
This is a win-and-in game for Cincinnati. The Reds’ 7–4 win on Saturday kept them tied with the Mets at 83–78. Cincinnati holds the tiebreaker over the Mets for the final NL Wild Card spot. One more victory or a Mets loss sends them to the postseason. Milwaukee doesn't have anything to play for in this game after locking up the NL’s top seed. That said, the Brewers will want to end the regular season on a strong note and not give a wounded opponent an easy win.
Milwaukee hands the ball to Freddy Peralta, who has enjoyed yet another breakout campaign. He arrives with a 17–6 record, a 2.68 ERA, and a 1.07 WHIP. At home, his splits are especially strong. He’ll look to control a Reds lineup that got to Milwaukee’s staff on Saturday. Cincinnati counters with Brady Singer, who has compiled a 14–11 record with a 3.95 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. He’s been solid, but this will be a tough test as he tries to bring his team a win in a huge spot.
Milwaukee has lost five of its last six, slowing down now that their postseason status has been secured. Cincinnati has won three games in a row going into this matchup. They are playing with desperation and will try to use that to their advantage again here.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Christian Yelich | Under 1.5 Total Bases |
Spencer Steer | Over 0.5 Home Runs |
Elly De La Cruz | Over 0.5 Stolen Bases |
Score Projection: Cincinnati 5 – Milwaukee 4
Win Probability: Reds 53%, Brewers 47%
I think that the Cincinnati Reds will secure a playoff berth with a win on the road in this contest. I don't think that the Brewers will push Peralta deep into this game since they already know they are going to be the top seed in the postseason. Cincinnati should take advantage of some extended bullpen innings for Milwaukee and the Reds should win as a slight underdog on the road to lock up a place in October.
