The UNLV Rebels and Wyoming Cowboys will face off in a Mountain West Conference matchup on Saturday night. UNLV comes into this game with a perfect 4-0 record and they will try to get a fifth straight win to begin the season in a tough place to play in Wyoming. Here, I break down this big road test for the Rebels, and you can find my UNLV vs Wyoming prediction below.
Our UNLV vs Wyoming Pick

Key Storylines
- UNLV's Offensive Firepower: The Rebels have a potent offense, averaging 36.8 points per game. They have a balanced attack, averaging 244.3 passing yards and 206.3 rushing yards per game. They are coming off a bye week and will try to repeat the 41-point performance they put forth in their last game against Miami (OH).
- Wyoming's Defensive Challenges: The Cowboys have struggled defensively, allowing 28.3 points per game and giving up an average of 275.5 passing yards per game. They have given up 34 points per game over their last two games, though those two games were against Big 12 opponents and the Cowboys could fare better here.
- Turnover Margin: UNLV ranks 6th in the FBS with a +6 turnover margin, indicating strong ball security and a penchant for creating defensive takeaways.
Quarterback Play
- UNLV: Quarterback Anthony Colandrea has been efficient so far this season. He has thrown for over 1,000 yards through four games, with eight touchdowns and just three interceptions.
- Wyoming: Kaden Anderson has completed 55% of his passes so far this year. He has five touchdowns and two interceptions. That ratio is not bad, but Anderson is averaging under 200 passing yards per game and that isn't quite enough to be a consistent threat.
Betting Trends
- UNLV: The Rebels have covered the spread in three of their first four games this season. They are 2-2 on over/unders to this point in the season.
- Wyoming: The Cowboys are 2-2 against the spread to this point in the year. Wyoming has gone 1-3 in the over/under market coming into this game.
UNLV vs Wyoming Model Projection
- Score Projection: UNLV 27, Wyoming 20
- Win Probability: UNLV 73.5%, Wyoming 26.5%
Final Thoughts
UNLV is playing at a higher level on offense going into this contest. The Rebels should win their first Mountain West Conference game of the season here and improve to 5-0 overall. As for the point spread, I recommend laying the points with the Rebels, as Colandrea and the Rebels' passing game should give them a significant advantage in this one.
