Key Storylines
- Temple's Resurgence: Under first-year head coach K.C. Keeler, Temple has shown significant improvement. They most recently earned a 49-14 win over Charlotte. Quarterback Evan Simon has been efficient, with 16 touchdowns and no interceptions this season. Running back Jay Ducker adds balance to the offense with over 500 yards on the ground. And their defense has been opportunistic, forcing turnovers and scoring touchdowns at times.
- Tulsa's Struggles: Tulsa has yet to secure a conference win, sitting at 0-4 in the AAC. Their offense has been inconsistent, averaging 19.9 points per game. That is good for 118th nationally. Quarterback Baylor Hayes threw three interceptions in their last game. The defense has allowed 411 yards per game, ranking 113th in the country.
Quarterback Play
- Evan Simon (Temple): Simon has been a steady presence for the Owls, with 1,343 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and no interceptions. He has been aggressive with the football without being dangerous and that has been key to Temple's early success.
- Baylor Hayes (Tulsa): Hayes has shown flashes of potential but has struggled with consistency, throwing six touchdowns and three interceptions this season. He will need to be more explosive for his team to have a chance in this contest.
Betting Trends & H2H
- Temple: The Owls are 6-1 against the spread this season. Five of their seven games have gone over their totals.
- Tulsa: Tulsa is 3-4 against the spread this season. They have seen five of their first seven games go under their totals this year.
Temple vs Tulsa Model Projection
- Score Projection: Temple 32 – Tulsa 21
- Win Probability: Temple 68%, Tulsa 32%
Final Thoughts
Temple has demonstrated significant improvement this season, particularly on offense. With a balanced attack and a defense capable of creating turnovers, the Owls are well-positioned to cover the spread against a Tulsa team struggling both offensively and defensively. I'll lay the points with the Owls in this matchup in the AAC.
