Boise State has shot to the top of the conference standings, entering this game 4‑0 in Mountain West play and riding a home winning streak that now stands at 16 straight games. Fresno State is in the midst of a transition under a new head coach and quarterback and their issues on offense have led to a two-game losing streak.
One of the most significant storylines in this game is how Fresno State will respond after being shut out 23‑0 at home by the San Diego State Aztecs. That loss exposed a lack of offensive rhythm and the inability to generate meaningful progress against quality competition in the Mountain West. The Bulldogs could struggle to score points again in this game against the gold standard in the MWC.
Boise State is so hard to beat at Albertsons Stadium, especially for teams that struggle to establish offensive consistency. Fresno State has struggled on the road against Boise State historically and that will be expected to happen again in this game.
Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen has been efficient this year. He has 15 passing touchdowns to seven interceptions and he will try to help the Broncos stay perfect in conference play. Fresno State signal‑caller E.J. Warner has thrown 10 touchdowns against nine interceptions. He was replaced by Carson Conklin last week, who had no touchdowns and two interceptions against San Diego State.
Score Projection: Boise State 35 – Fresno State 14
Win Probability: Boise State 85%, Fresno State 15%
Boise State on the blue turf has become one of the most sure bets in all of college football. They should extend their home winning streak here at the expense of the Fresno State team that has clearly not figured things out offensively this season. I will lay the points with the Broncos, as they look to stay perfect in the Mountain West and move closer to locking up a spot in the conference title game.
