The Arizona Wildcats (6-3) and Cincinnati Bearcats (7-2) will meet in Big 12 action this Saturday afternoon. Cincinnati enters this game still firmly in the mix in the race for to make the Big 12 championship game. They will try to avoid a loss that would make it a lot tougher to get to that championship game with time running out in the regular season. Before kickoff from Cincinnati, my Arizona vs Cincinnati prediction can be found below.
Pick: Cincinnati Bearcats -6.5
Confidence: ★★★★☆
Cincinnati is coming off a bye week and still sits in the thick of the Big 12 title picture. They are tied for second place in the Big 12 standings with BYU coming into this week and a win would help them keep the pressure on the Cougars going into their game later on Saturday.
Arizona secured bowl eligibility with a 24-20 win over Kansas. They have momentum going into this game but they also face the challenge of a road trip to the Eastern Time zone for their first-ever meeting with the Bearcats. Cincinnati's only losses this season came on a neutral field against Nebraska and on the road against Utah. The Bearcats will try to stay unbeaten at home with a win here.
The Bearcats’ offense averages 35.6 points per game and has been fairly consistent against Big 12 competition. Their defense allows 21.9 points per game. Arizona’s offense averages 33.0 points per game and their defense has been stout, giving up 19.9 points per game. The defense that can avoid an uncharacteristically bad day on the field in this game will give their team a huge advantage.
Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita enters this contest with 2,200 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions so far this season. He completes 63.9% of his attempts and he will try to lead his team to an important win on the road here.
Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby has 2,064 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and just 2 interceptions through 9 games. He also has 453 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns. His dual-threat skillset is a major weapon and he has shown strong command of the Bearcats’ offense.
Score Projection: Cincinnati 31 – Arizona 24
Win Probability: Cincinnati 65%, Arizona 35%
Cincinnati is undefeated at home this season and they should keep it that way with a win in this contest. Look for the Bearcats to win, cover the spread, and give themselves a big boost in the Big 12 title race by outperforming Arizona with their offense here.
