Two of the Big Ten’s strongest teams collide Saturday as Wisconsin meets Michigan in a high-stakes postseason clash in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament. Michigan has built one of the most impressive resumes in college basketball, entering the weekend with a dominant record and national title aspirations after advancing in the conference tournament with a win over Ohio State. Wisconsin got an overtime win over Illinois and are now just two wins away from a conference title. Before tip-off in Chicago on Saturday, continue reading to get my Wisconsin vs Michigan prediction.
Michigan enters this game enjoying one of the best seasons in program history. The Wolverines improved to 30-2 after a 71-67 victory over Ohio State in the conference tournament quarterfinals. That win showcased the depth that has carried Michigan throughout the season, with four players scoring in double figures and the defense forcing critical turnovers late.
Wisconsin has also been playing strong basketball down the stretch. The Badgers moved to 24-9 after a 91-88 quarterfinal victory against Illinois in overtime. Wisconsin’s offense has been driven primarily by its dynamic backcourt duo, which ranks among the most productive scoring combinations in the Big Ten.
Another storyline is the earlier meeting between these programs. Wisconsin handed Michigan its first loss of the season in January, winning 91-88 in a tightly contested game. That result should add another layer of intensity to this contest, as Michigan looks for payback while Wisconsin attempts to prove it can beat the Wolverines again.

This game features two teams capable of making a deep NCAA Tournament run, but Michigan’s balance and defensive consistency give the Wolverines a slight advantage. Wisconsin’s backcourt can create offense against any opponent, and Boyd and Blackwell will likely keep the score close for long stretches.
I expect a competitive game that stays tight into the second half, but Michigan’s depth and rebounding advantage should allow the Wolverines to win. In the betting markets, I'm going to take the points with the Badgers, as I think this is going to be a single-digit game when all is said and done.
