Vermont enters this contest with an 8‑6 record and has shown offensive balance, shooting 48% from the floor and maintaining solid rebounding numbers across the board this season. The Catamounts are 3‑2 in road games, and they topped Princeton earlier this season by a score of 79‑74 in a neutral site encounter, propelled by a 27‑point performance from Gus Yalden and 17 rebounds from TJ Long. Vermont will look to complete a regular-season sweep over the Tigers in non-conference play with a win here before turning their attention to America East play.
Princeton is struggling at 3‑11 and has lost eight consecutive games leading up to this contest. The Tigers have shown defensive intensity at home but lack offensive consistency, often scoring in the mid‑60s. Malik Abdullahi has been a key contributor for Princeton, scoring 21 points in their most recent outing against Temple. But the supporting cast for the Tigers has struggled to sustain scoring. Jack Stanton provides a three‑point threat with a 38% success rate from deep, but Princeton’s offensive output lags behind that of Vermont to this point in the year.
Both of these teams start their conference seasons after this game. With both teams playing in what will likely be one-bid leagues, it could be tempting for both teams to shift focus away from this game and toward the conference season. This game will be a great test for both programs as they look to lock in before league play.
Score Projection: Vermont 71 – Princeton 68
Win Probability: Vermont 56%, Princeton 44%
I don't think that Princeton is quite as bad as their 3-11 record would suggest. But I also don't think that they are going to beat Vermont in this matchup. I'll lay the points with the Catamounts, who should close out non-conference play with a win before attempting to dominate the America East once again in 2026.
