Vanderbilt heads to Neville Arena with a top-20 ranking and a high-powered offense, while Auburn looks to steady itself after two tight setbacks against Tennessee and Alabama. The Commodores’ perimeter skill has been headline material all winter, but the status of their ball-handling group adds intrigue in a building that has been one of the SEC’s toughest for visitors. Here, I break down this matchup in the SEC and make my Vanderbilt vs Auburn prediction in college basketball.

Key Storylines
- Form guide: Vanderbilt is 19-4 overall and 6-4 in the SEC after a 92-91 setback to Oklahoma. Auburn sits at 14-9 and 5-5 SEC, following a 96-92 loss to Alabama. The Tigers have dropped two straight games and they will try to get back on track here to give a huge boost to their NCAA Tournament resume by beating another ranked team.
- Star power: Vanderbilt’s Tyler Tanner averages 18.6 PPG and 5.3 APG, with Tyler Nickel adding 14.5 PPG on 45% from three. Auburn’s Keyshawn Hall paces the Tigers at 21.0 PPG and 7.0 RPG. Tahaad Pettiford adds 13.8 PPG and 3.4 APG, and Kevin Overton chips in 12.6 PPG for an explosive Auburn offense.
- Injuries/availability: Vanderbilt guard Frankie Collins remains out following a meniscus issue. Duke Miles has recently dealt with a knee procedure, placing a heavier playmaking load on Tanner.
- Home/road splits: Auburn is 9-2 at Neville Arena this season, while Vanderbilt is 5-2 in true road games.
- Vanderbilt's defense could be what sets them apart here. The Commodores are allowing about five points per game less than Auburn on defense so far this season and they will try to use that to their advantage to win this game.

Final Thoughts
This shapes up as a tight game inside 4 points either way, but the combination of Auburn’s home-court advantage, Keyshawn Hall’s matchup advantages, and Vanderbilt’s shorthanded ball-handling steers me to the Tigers. Auburn moneyline is the cleanest look for me, especially after we saw Vandy get torn to ribbon on defense at home against Oklahoma in their last game.
