The Big East battle between the third-ranked Connecticut Huskies and the struggling Georgetown Hoyas is a key part of Saturday's college basketball action. UConn enters this matchup with a dominant 17-1 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in conference play, riding a 13-game winning streak that has them firmly in control of the Big East standings. Georgetown sits at 9-8 overall and just 1-5 in league play, and the Hoyas will need standout performances to avoid another lopsided result. Here, I break down this Big East game and provide you with my UConn vs Georgetown prediction.
Pick: | Georgetown +11.5 ATS PRO |
Confidence: | 2/5 |
UConn’s resume this season has been impressive, with a 17-1 record and a perfect record in Big East play. The Huskies enter on a 13-game win streak that includes a gritty 69-64 road victory over a ranked Seton Hall team last time out, where Tarris Reed Jr. led the Huskies with 21 points and nine rebounds. While UConn’s offense has shown moments of inconsistency behind the arc, its suffocating defense and ability to close out close games have been hallmarks of the Huskies’ success.
Veteran leadership from Reed Jr., Alex Karaban, and Solo Ball anchors a balanced UConn attack that features plenty of depth and efficiency on both ends of the floor. UConn’s defensive efficiency ranks among the nation’s best, and they enter this contest as road favorites with rhythm and confidence built over a long winning streak.
Georgetown’s season, after a promising 5-0 start, has unravelled substantially. The Hoyas sit below .500 in conference play and have dropped multiple games due to key late-game collapses, including an 86-83 overtime defeat at Creighton that saw Georgetown’s lead evaporate before the loss. While Arkansas transfer KJ Lewis leads Georgetown’s scoring with 15 points per game, and Malik Mack contributes double-digit scoring as well, the Hoyas have struggled to maintain consistency and close out tight contests.
Score Projection: UConn 78 – Georgetown 71 ATS PRO
Win Probability: UConn 87%, Georgetown 13% ATS PRO
UConn should be able to win this game on the road against a struggling Georgetown team. But I'm taking the points with the Hoyas in this matchup. The Huskies' last two road games have been decided by five points apiece. And while Georgetown might not be able to pull the upset here, they should keep this game within single digits when all is said and done.
