The second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament includes an intriguing clash between TCU and Duke on Saturday. Duke enters as the top overall seed, but showed vulnerability in its opening game, while TCU arrives with confidence after a hard-fought win over Ohio State. Before the second round tips off for these power-conference temas, continue reading for my TCU vs Duke prediction.

Duke survived a major scare in its opening game, rallying from a double-digit halftime deficit to defeat Siena 71-65. That performance raised questions about their consistency, especially on the defensive end early in games. However, the Blue Devils showed composure late, powered by their top scorers stepping up in key moments.
TCU, meanwhile, defeated Ohio State 66-64 in a tightly contested matchup. The Horned Frogs built a big early lead before nearly letting it slip, but a late basket sealed the victory. Their defensive intensity and rebounding were critical, and those traits will be essential against a more talented Duke roster.
Cameron Boozer leads Duke and is coming off a dominant 22-point, 13-rebound performance in the opening round. His ability to control the paint on both ends makes him the focal point of the offense.
Cayden Boozer adds scoring in the backcourt, finishing with 19 points in the first game against Siena. His perimeter shooting and ball handling help Duke stretch defenses.
Micah Robinson is a key scorer for TCU, leading the team with 18 points in the first round. His ability to hit outside shots gives TCU spacing against stronger defenses.
David Punch recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds against Ohio State, anchoring the interior and providing second-chance opportunities.
Xavier Edmonds delivered 16 points, including the game-winning basket. His clutch play and versatility make him a critical piece in close games.
Stat | TCU | Duke |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 78.3 | 82.3 |
Points allowed per game | 71.8 | 63.2 |
Team Field Goal % | 45% | 49% |
Rebounds per game | 36.2 | 40.3 |
Assists per game | 15.6 | 16.9 |
Duke holds clear advantages in efficiency, depth, and offensive production, which should carry over across 40 minutes. The Blue Devils are likely to control the game inside with Cameron Boozer while benefiting from balanced scoring across the roster. Their slow start in the first round highlights some inconsistency that could keep this game tighter than expected early. I'll take the points with the Horned Frogs in a game that should fall right on the number or close to it.
