Conference tournament play continues on Thursday, and the meeting between Oklahoma and Texas A&M on March 12 is an important one for both teams. Oklahoma enters the matchup after a strong opening round win that kept its postseason hopes alive, extending the Sooners’ current winning streak and showing that the offense can produce under pressure. Texas A&M, meanwhile, arrives as the higher seed with a deep roster and one of the most productive offenses in the conference. We could see some offensive fireworks in this Oklahoma vs Texas A&M matchup and I've broken that game down for you right here.
Oklahoma comes into this game with renewed energy after a comeback victory over South Carolina in the opening round of the tournament. The Sooners erased a large early deficit and finished with an 86-74 win behind strong guard play. That result marked their fifth straight victory, giving them confidence entering the second round.
Texas A&M secured the sixth seed after a solid regular season that included 21 wins. The Aggies have built their success on a fast-paced offense that spreads the scoring across the roster. Several players average double figures, making it difficult for opponents to focus defensive attention on one scorer.
The previous meetings between these teams this season also add intrigue. Texas A&M defeated Oklahoma in both of their matchups this season, showing an ability to control the interior and generate consistent scoring opportunities. Oklahoma will look to adjust in the rematch here, particularly on the glass.
