The rivalry between Michigan State and Michigan closes the regular season with one of the most anticipated Big Ten games of the year. Michigan enters the contest with a 28-2 record and the conference title already secured, while Michigan State sits at 25-5 and has surged into the final week with five straight wins. Even with the standings mostly settled, the stakes remain high. Michigan is pushing for a top seed in the NCAA Tournament, while Michigan State is looking to strengthen its position heading into postseason play by taking down their rivals in this Michigan State vs Michigan matchup.
Pick: Michigan State +10.5
Confidence: 3 out of 5
Michigan has been one of the most impressive teams in college basketball this season. The Wolverines have dominated Big Ten play with a balanced lineup that features multiple double-digit scorers and elite interior defense. They recently defeated Iowa 71-68 on the road and became the first Big Ten team in decades to finish conference road play undefeated. That result continued a strong late-season run as Michigan prepares for March.
Michigan State has also been playing its best basketball in recent weeks. The Spartans have won five straight games and remain one of the better defensive teams in the conference. Their path to staying competitive in this rivalry game will likely come through rebounding. Michigan State ranks among the top rebounding teams in the nation and often generates second-chance points that keep games close.

Michigan has been one of the most complete teams in college basketball this season and deserves its status as the favorite in this rivalry game. The Wolverines have elite offensive efficiency, excellent interior defense, and the depth to maintain scoring pressure throughout the game. Still, rivalry games often play closer than expected, and Michigan State’s rebounding ability and physical defense could prevent Michigan from pulling away comfortably. I'll take the points with Sparty on Sunday afternoon.
