The Iona Gaels and Kansas City Roos are set to meet on Tuesday afternoon in college basketball. Iona is a favorite on the road as they look for a second win in a row to start the season. Can Kansas City protect their home court and hand Iona their first loss of the 2025-26 season? Continue reading to get my Iona vs Kansas City prediction for Tuesday.
The Gaels arrive riding early momentum under their new regime. After opening with a victory over Hofstra, Iona’s backcourt is already showing promise. Guard CJ Anthony had a breakout outing of 24 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists in the season opener. The supporting cast, including forwards like Lamin Sabally (11 pts, 8 reb), appears ready to complement the team's guard play.
Kansas City enters this matchup off a shaky defensive showing, having surrendered 101 points in a loss to SIU Edwardsville in their last game. The Roos’ offense features guard Karmello Branch (17.0 ppg) and Jayson Petty (16.0 ppg). But the Roos struggled in their only Division I matchup of the season thus far and they will try to be better on that end of the floor in this game.
The early tip will be something that could tip the scales in one direction or the other in this game. The team that gets off to a faster start in this game will give themselves a huge advantage here, as adjusting to an unusual start time can often be so important in college basketball.
Score Projection: Iona 80 – Kansas City 72
Win Probability: Iona Gaels 65% | Kansas City Roos 35%
I am going to lay the points with Iona in this contest from Kansas City. The Gaels should take advantage of facing a Kansas City defense that looked horrible in its season opener against Edwardsville. I don't anticipate the Roos playing much better here, as Iona should win this game by at least five points to start our college basketball action on Tuesday.
