The Big East Tournament continues Friday night at Madison Square Garden with a semifinal meeting between Georgetown and UConn. The Huskies enter the game after a dominant quarterfinal win over Xavier, rolling to a 93-68 victory behind balanced scoring and strong work on the glass. Georgetown arrives with confidence after pulling off a convincing upset against Villanova to reach the semifinal stage. Who will advance to the final at MSG? Continue reading to get my Georgetown vs UConn prediction in college hoops.
UConn has built its success on efficiency at both ends of the floor. The Huskies have averaged more than 78 points per game while holding opponents to around 65, creating one of the strongest scoring margins in the conference. Their balanced roster allows them to attack inside and outside, and their recent performance against Xavier showed how dangerous they can be when shots are falling.
Georgetown’s path to this stage has been tougher. The Hoyas finished the regular season with a losing record but have shown flashes of offensive ability. Their quarterfinal victory over Villanova demonstrated that they can compete with higher seeds when their defense tightens up and their guards create scoring opportunities.
The regular-season meetings between these teams were competitive. UConn won both of them by a combined total of six points, showing that the Hoyas are capable of pushing the Huskies if they control the pace and limit turnovers.

Georgetown Hoyas
Stat | Georgetown | UConn |

Georgetown deserves credit for reaching this stage of the Big East Tournament after knocking off Villanova, but the challenge increases dramatically against a deeper and more balanced UConn roster. The Huskies possess advantages in shooting efficiency, ball movement, and defensive consistency, which often become decisive factors in tournament settings.
If Georgetown wants to keep the game close, the Hoyas must slow the pace and limit turnovers against a UConn defense that thrives on forcing mistakes. But Georgetown has done just that multiple times this season already. I'll take the Hoyas to keep this game respectable as well and for Georgetown to cover the number here.
