Furman vs UConn Game Snapshot
- Matchup: Furman Paladins vs UConn Huskies
- Date & Time: Friday, March 20, 2026
- Venue: Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Key Storylines
- UConn has secured a No. 2 seed in the East Region and looks to continue a strong season despite a recent loss in the Big East Tournament final to St. John’s. UConn finished 29‑5 overall with a 17‑3 conference mark. Their experience on the national stage makes them a popular pick to advance deep in this year's tournament.
- Furman punched its ticket by capturing the Southern Conference Tournament, exorcising past tournament disappointments. The Paladins boast a balanced attack but face one of the toughest possible first‑round matchups as a 15‑seed. The Paladins upset Virginia not too long ago in this tournament, but this is a much tougher assignment than that game was.
Key Players
UConn Huskies
- Tarris Reed Jr. – The senior big man leads UConn in both scoring and rebounding with about 13.7 points and 8.1 boards per game. His ability to protect the rim and score inside anchors Connecticut’s interior presence.
- Silas Demary Jr. – The primary guard playmaker, averaging around 6.2 assists per game. His leadership in facilitating offense and creating shots makes him critical in UConn’s attack.
- Braylon Mullins – A key scorer who came alive in big moments, including a strong showing in the Big East semifinals against Georgetown. UConn’s balanced offense often runs through him when perimeter shots are open.
Furman Paladins
- Alex Wilkins – Freshman guard leads the Paladins in scoring with around 17.7 points per game and also contributes nearly 5 assists. His scoring ability and playmaking give Furman offensive identity.

Furman vs UConn Pick & Model Projection
Score Projection | Furman 62 - UConn 83 ATS PRO |
Pick | UConn -20.5 ATS PRO |
Confidence | 2.5 out of 5 ATS PRO |
Win Probability | Furman 18%, UConn 82% ATS PRO |
UConn’s experience, depth, and statistical advantages in defense and ball movement project to carry them past a spirited Furman squad. While Furman won the SoCon and boasts capable scorers, the Huskies’ ability to clamp down on defense and limit second chances tips the scales decisively. I am going to lay the points with UConn here, as they should bounce back convincingly from their Big East title game loss to St. John's.
