The Creighton Bluejays make the trip to Storrs to take on the UConn Huskies on Wednesday, in a Big East Conference contest that has significant implications for the regular season title race. UConn enters as a heavy favorite after dominating Creighton earlier in the season, while Creighton seeks to build momentum with an upset on the road to get back to .500 in the Big East. Here, I break down this contest and make my Creighton vs UConn prediction in college hoops.
Pick: UConn -16.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: ★★★★☆
UConn Huskies
Creighton Bluejays
Stat | Creighton | UConn |
|---|---|---|
Points per Game | 76.04 | 79.27 |
Points Allowed per Game | 75.15 | 65.15 |
Team Field Goal % | 46 | 49 |
Rebounds Per Game | 35.0 | 36.5 |
Assists Per Game | 15.8 | 18.5 |
The statistical comparison reveals UConn’s defensive edge as one of the biggest factors in this game. The Huskies allow about 10 fewer points per game than Creighton, a number that has helped UConn be one of the best teams in college basketball this year. UConn’s rebounding advantage and assist numbers indicate better ball movement and second-chance scoring, while Creighton has solid shooting numbers but lacks the defensive stops to keep pace with UConn in a fast-paced contest.
UConn dominated the last meeting between these teams with an 85-58 victory, showcasing their shooting and rebounding advantages. Creighton has struggled against ranked opponents and on the road, while UConn boasts a strong home record. Against the spread, UConn is 9-17 so far this season, while Creighton enters this game with a record of 8-17-1 against the spread.
Score Projection: Creighton 64 – UConn 82 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Creighton 12%, UConn 88% ATS PRO
Given UConn’s superior defense, balanced scoring, and home-court advantage, this matchup is likely to end with the Huskies not only winning but covering the sizable spread. Creighton will need an exceptional shooting night and defensive effort to stay within range, a tall order against a top-ranked team playing with rhythm and confidence. I'm going to lay the points with the home favorites in this Big East contest.
