Key Storylines
- Baylor’s offensive momentum: In their last game, Baylor exploded for 110 points with Yessoufou dropping a career-high 27 and Cameron Carr adding 25. The Bears now average 90.1 PPG, ranking them third in the Big 12. Their offense appears deep and willing to share the basketball, with multiple players capable of scoring in double figures on any given day.
- First true road test: This is Baylor’s first significant road challenge of the season. While their record is 6–1, all of their prior wins came at home or neutral sites. Memphis represents their first real test in a hostile environment.
- Memphis’ need for consistency: The Tigers are 3–4 on the year and 3–1 at home, but their offense has struggled to hit consistent marks. Guard Dug McDaniel is Memphis’ leading scorer at 14.3 PPG, but the team's shooting percentage sits at 43.5%. Memphis needs improved ball movement and shot selection to stay competitive.
- Fresh series, few recent meetings: The game is the first of a four-year home-and-home agreement between the schools, and only their ninth meeting all-time. The last game between them came in 2014 at a neutral site. History offers little predictive value here as it's been over a decade since these teams have played.
Head-to-Head & Betting Trends
- Historically, Memphis leads the all-time series 6–2, but the two teams have played only once since 1986. That was a 2014 neutral-site win for Baylor.
- Memphis is 6-1 against the spread so far this season.
- Baylor is 3-4 against the spread heading into this contest.
- The over is 5-2 in Baylor's games thus far.
- Memphis has seen 4 of their first 7 games stay under their totals.

Final Thoughts
This game should stay pretty tight throughout, but I do expect Baylor to get the job done when the final buzzer sounds. Baylor has been far more consistent on offense to begin this season and that trend should continue in what will be an entertaining game between two teams with tournament aspirations this season.
