Why Bet The Aces:
✅ This line has shifted considerably in the favor of the Aces, as it opened at Aces -2.5 and has jumped up near 5.5 within the span of under 24 hours. Las Vegas came into the season as the favorite to win the title under new head coach Becky Hammon, and there is clearly a lot of confidence in them early in the season. They will justify that confidence with a big win at home.
✅ Las Vegas greatly increased its three-point shooting numbers compared to last season in their season opener against the Phoenix Mercury. They shot 21 threes on Friday night and made 11 of them. Under Hammon, the Aces are expected to continue to shoot more from the perimeter, which makes better use of their personnel than what we saw last year under Bill Laimbeer.

✅ The loss of Liz Cambage in the offseason allowed the Aces to move former Sixth Player of the Year Dearica Hamby into the starting lineup for the Aces’ season opener. That decision paid off immediately, as Hamby scored 24 points to lead all scorers against Phoenix. Hamby is smaller than Cambage but is quicker and gives a ton of effort that will help the Aces against a tough opponent like the Storm that can take advantage of a player being even a step late defensively.
Seattle Storm
The Seattle Storm crushed the Minnesota Lynx in the second half to win their season opener and their first game at Climate Pledge Arena. They got 17 points each from Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd, and held every player but Sylvia Fowles under 15 points for the Lynx. In their second game of the season, the Storm will look to pass an even more difficult test against the Las Vegas Aces.
For the Storm, the key to this game is going to be defending the three-point line, as the Aces are finally looking to use the perimeter to their advantage under Becky Hammon. Kelsey Plum is one of the most dangerous outside shooters in the WNBA, and will be firing away from the outside more thanks to the Aces’ changes in tactics from last season. If the Storm can force the Aces to try and win with twos instead of threes, they could pick up a big win on the road here.
Las Vegas Aces
For the Las Vegas Aces, the first game of the season was one where they got revenge against the Phoenix Mercury. The Aces blew the Mercury out in Phoenix to start the 2022 season, with all five starters scoring in double figures for the Aces. Against another tough opponent on Sunday, the Aces will look to continue to keep the pressure off of former league MVP A’ja Wilson.
Wilson attempted just eight shots against the Mercury on Friday night, making five of those shots. Under Hammon, the Aces will look to get more shots up from the perimeter, which should reduce the amount that Wilson needs to do, while also relieving some of the pressure she was seeing from defenses in the process.
