Storm vs Aces Game 2 Betting Pick
This game will be played at Michelob Ultra Arena at 10:00 PM ET on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
The Seattle Storm pulled off an upset in the first game of their WNBA semifinal series with the Las Vegas Aces. In Game 2, they will look for another surprising victory that could put them within a game of moving onto the WNBA Finals. In our WNBA picks for Wednesday night, we look at Storm vs Aces Game 2, in a game that could really change the landscape of the playoffs one way or the other.
Why Bet The Over:
✅ The Aces got off to a woeful start in Game 1, scoring just four points in the first six minutes of the contest. That dragged the total score of the game way down, under 150 across the entire 40 minutes. They are going to hit some of the open shots that they missed in Game 1, which will help the total to rise across the duration of Game 2.
✅ A’ja Wilson is going to be more efficient for the Aces in this game, which will certainly help the total. She went 3/10 from the field in Game 1, which is of course nothing like the normal level that we are used to from the former league MVP. She also missed several open shots from her preferred midrange spots, and will help the over by hitting more than 30% of her shots here.

✅ Both teams were terrible from three-point range in Game 1, which was a huge reason that game went under the total. The Aces and Storm shot a combined 11/45 from long distance, making less than a quarter of their overall three-point shot attempts. Some positive regression on both sides will lead to a higher-scoring affair as both teams will be much more effective from deep than they were on Sunday.
Seattle Storm
The Seattle Storm dug in defensively and took advantage of a poor shooting day from the Las Vegas Aces in Game 1 of this best of five semifinal series in the WNBA. The Storm shot just 41% on the day, but were able to squeak by thanks to an anemic start and finish offensively by Las Vegas. On Wednesday, the Storm have a chance to go up 2-0 on the road, to give themselves three chances to advance to the WNBA Finals.
In Game 1, Seattle got just four bench points, with Ezi Magbegor serving as their lone scorer off the bench. Some of this had to do with having to start Stephanie Talbot in the place of the injured Gabby Williams. But Seattle will need its bench to show up in Game 2 if they want to earn a second straight upset win over the top seed in the W.
Las Vegas Aces
The Las Vegas Aces blew past the Phoenix Mercury in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. But they had a much tougher time in Game 1 against the Seattle Storm. The Aces got off to a horrible start in Sunday’s series opener, and could not do enough to claim the game down the stretch. In Game 2, they will need their stars to step up and play like stars in order to avoid an 0-2 deficit.
Las Vegas had three players score in double figures in Game 1, but A’ja Wilson was not one of them. She made just three shots from the field and was held to eight points in Game 1. Kelsey Plum, meanwhile, needed 23 shots to score 20 points. Offensive efficiency must be a priority for the Aces in Game 2 against a Storm team that has the defense to make opponents pay for an off night.
