Three games in the WNBA for Tuesday and we’ll take a look at the late game between the New York Liberty (6-4) and the Las Vegas Aces (8-3).
New York at Las Vegas Betting Odds
The Aces are now favored by 12.5 points after opening as 12-point favorites, while the total climbed slightly from 172 to 172.5. Las Vegas is -1050 on the moneyline at FanDuel.
New York Liberty
The New York Liberty moved to 6-4 last time out when they knocked off the Mercury in Phoenix in a game I had Phoenix in and you have to give them the Liberty credit for winning on the road without a couple of players, even though Phoenix is also short-handed. New York did just enough to get the win, getting 23 points from Betnijah Laney and Jazmine Jones had 16 off the bench.
New York shoots the 3-pointer well and shoots them often, averaging 28 per game. For the season, the Liberty are scoring 82 points and allowing 84.6 points per game.
.
Las Vegas Aces
The Aces are 8-3 and were my pick to win the league title before the season started and I really haven’t seen anything to make me think they’re incapable of doing so. Las Vegas is a well-rounded team, with an excellent home court advantage. While the Aces score plenty of points, they’re not bad defensively and are No. 2 in the league at defending the 3-pointer and third in the league in scoring defense.
Liz Cambage is the big presence in the middle for Vega and is No. 2 in scoring behind A’ja Wilson, while Las Vegas also has four other players scoring at least 9.8 points per game. The Aces do lead the league in pace, just ahead of New York.
New York at Las Vegas Pick
This one isn’t for the feint of heart, as I have Las Vegas winning 88-73, so am going to take a shot on the under 172.5 at FanDuel. This is the first of two straight meetings between the two teams, who will meet again in Vegas on Thursday.
