A pair of games in the WNBA playoffs today and we’ll look at the late game between the Chicago Sky and the Minnesota Lynx.
Betting Odds
The Lynx are favored by 4 points and the total on the game is 165.5. Neither the side or the total has moved from the opening number.
Chicago Sky
The Sky had to win a single-game elimination against the Dallas Wings to reach this one and Chicago had the defense working against Dallas and cruised to an easy victory. The game did get a little bit ugly in the second half, with missed shots and sloppy play, but Chicago won’t complain.

The Sky have plenty of veterans on the squad and they should be ready for this one. With two days off after the game against Dallas and a relatively short trip, the rest advantage for the Lynx really shouldn’t play a factor in this one. The Sky were a better road team this season than they were at home, going 10-6 away from home and 6-10 at home, so they may not mind starting off in Minnesota. Kahleah Cooper led Chicago with 23 points against Dallas.
Minnesota Lynx
The Lynx really picked it up a little ways into the season after a slow start and they earned their No. 3 spot, winning their last four games to hold off Seattle in the standings. The Lynx were 13-3 at home this season, with one of those losses coming to the Sky.
Napeesha Collier led the Lynx in scoring, with WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Sylvia Fowles second. Fowles did shoot 64% from the field, so the Sky will look to double team when possible, so the fate of Minnesota could come down to how well Kayla McBride and Layshia Clarendon shoot from 3-point range.
Chicago at Minnesota Pick
Both games on the slate today are relatively tough, but with unknown injuries in the Phoenix game, this one should play the truest to form. Both teams won on the road this season against each other and will take a shot the Sky can keep that trend alive and take Chicago +4. I have Minnesota winning 84-82, so hopefully we’ll see a decent game here.
