Tiafoe vs Rublev Betting Pick
Only six players remain in the 2022 US Open draw on the men’s side heading into Wednesday’s action. Two of those players are Andrey Rublev and Frances Tiafoe, one of whom will head to the semifinals in New York with a win in this match. In our tennis betting predictions for Wednesday, we look at Tiafoe vs Rublev to find out who will face the winner of Alcaraz vs Sinner in the final four in Flushing.
Why Bet On Frances Tiafoe:
✅ Time on court is about even between these two players going into this quarterfinal clash. But much more of Rublev’s time on court has been spent under duress than that of Tiafoe. The American has dropped just one set at this tournament so far, while Rublev has played two five-set matches already, including his third round match against Denis Shapovalov. Expect Tiafoe to continue to be better at avoiding trouble in this match.
✅ These two men have played each other twice previously, splitting those matches evenly. Rublev beat Tiafoe at Indian Wells in March, but Tiafoe beat Rublev in the 2021 US Open in five sets. Expect Tiafoe’s excellent level of play at this event to continue just a couple of days after he beat Rafael Nadal to reach the quarterfinals.

✅ At this stage of the tournament, the crowd is going to be a factor that benefits Frances Tiafoe. It is not common for an American man to still be standing this late in the US Open, and the crowd in New York will be fully behind him as they yearn for an American champion. That will be a huge benefit late in this match and in pressure situations.
Frances Tiafoe
Frances Tiafoe enjoyed one of the truly great moments for an American men’s tennis player on Monday, when he beat Rafael Nadal in four sets to advance to the quarterfinals of the US Open. Tiafoe was incredible in that match, winning 76% of his first serve points and 60% of his second serve points against one of the all-time great returners of serve. Here, he will look to avoid a letdown and back up that result against Nadal with a win over another tough opponent.
For Tiafoe, continuing to hit cleanly will be the key to this match. He hit 49 winners to just 28 unforced errors against Nadal in the last round. If he can put forth numbers like that against a much more erratic hitter in Rublev on Wednesday, an American could be in the men’s semifinals at the US Open in what would be a massive surprise.
Andrey Rublev
It has not been easy for Andrey Rublev, but the Russian number two has made it to the quarterfinal of the US Open. He had to survive a five-set match in the first round against Laslo Djere, and another five setter in the third round against Shapovalov. But he has responded to each of those long matches with straight set wins in his next match, and will look to take down the last remaining American man here.
The first serve of Rublev will be so valuable in this match, as he faces one of the few opponents who can outhit him off the ground in Tiafoe. Rublev has won at least 73% of his first serve points in each of his first four matches at this tournament. But if he struggles to get his first serve in play as he tends to do sometimes, he could be forced into too many difficult exchanges from the baseline to win this match.
