Sharks vs Flyers Betting Pick
This game will be played at the Wells Fargo Center at 7:00 PM ET on Sunday, October 23, 2022.
Struggling Sharks
It’s been a rough October so far for the Sharks, who are living up to the bleak preseason projections for their 2022-23 season.
San Jose has won just one of their first seven games this season. Starting 0-2 in Czech Republic against the Predators, before dropping their first three back in North America before finally getting their first win on October 20 against the New York Rangers.
Goal scoring has been the biggest issue for the Sharks. In their seven games, the Sharks have failed to score more than two goals in regulation. Lacking offensive output is a big problem that needs to be remedied quickly.
At 1-6, it is clear the Sharks are amongst the teams in the Connor Bedard sweepstakes. This season is all about the rebuild in Northern California and you should expect the Sharks to lose most of the nights they take the ice.

Flying Flyers
Unlike the Sharks, the Flyers are over performing their preseason expectations in October. New head coach John Tortorella has his players on a hot start to the year as they hold an unexpected 4-1 record.
Philly’s only loss of the season came on the second end of a road back to back in Florida as the Flyers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday but could not overcome the Florida Panthers the following night. A two goal night from Carter Verhaeghe handed the Flyers their first loss of the season in a 4-3 final.
Center Kevin Hayes’ playmaking has been key to the Flyers quick start. The veteran center has six assists in five games and has been crucial in contributing to the Flyers 3.4 goals per game output.

Goalie Watch
At the time of writing, no starting goalies have been confirmed for Sunday night. However, it can be expected both teams will make a change in goal from Saturday given the travel and quick turnaround.
San Jose would benefit from a Philadelphia change in goal as the Sharks gave their backup the start in New Jersey. That means starting netminder James Reimer will make the start in Philadelphia, likely against the Flyers backup.
Carter Hart started on Saturday in the win over Nashville to move to a perfect 4-0 on the season. If Hart doesn’t play on Sunday, his backup Felix Sandström will look to earn his first win of the new season.
-140 is too steep of a price to back the Flyers with their backup goalie in goal. If Hart does end up playing on back to back nights, bet the Flyers to continue their hot start. If Felix Sandström is in goal when the starting goalies are confirmed, bet the Sharks at +120 as this Sharks vs Flyers matchup will go down to who is in goal for what is the best bet on Sunday.
