Oddsmakers have this NHL game listed as a pick ‘em with both the Rangers and Avs priced at -110 as of Monday night. The total is set at 6.5 as the oddsmakers expect offensive fireworks at MSG.

Avalanche vs Rangers Betting Pick
This game will be played at the Madison Square Garden at 8:00 PM ET on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
MSG Woes
Things started off swimmingly for the Rangers, who went on a 3-0 streak to open the season before things came crashing down in their last two games.
New York dropped a 3-2 overtime decision against the then winless San Jose Sharks before having the doors blown off them by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Back to back losses is a concern for the Rangers, especially considering both games were on home ice in games where they were favored.
Another big concern for the Rangers is how badly they were beaten by Columbus after having three days off between games. Well rested and at home, the Rangers put in an embarrassing effort on Sunday and got dominated by the Blue Jackets in all three periods.
Now the Rangers need a big win over the defending champs to avoid throwing away a four game homestand. If they play like they did on Sunday night, it will be three straight home losses for the blue shirts.

MacKinnon On Broadway
Avs star Nathan MacKinnon will make his only appearance of the season at the world’s greatest arena at a perfect time for the Madison Square Garden crowd to see one of the game’s best players.
MacKinnon has been averaging well above a point per game for the Avs in October. Through six games, MacKinnon has scored three goals and added six assists to sit on nine points so far this season.
Against the Golden Knights, MacKinnon found the back of the net in a big 3-2 win to avoid falling below .500 on the year. Expect MacKinnon to have another big game as the superstar takes the ice under the bright lights at MSG.

Rangers Hopeless With Halak
One thing the Rangers can hold onto entering this matchup is the fact their 5-1 meltdown on Sunday came with their backup goalie in the pipes. Veteran netminder Jaroslav Halak got shelled and only saved 16 of the 21 shots he faced in the loss.
In a game the Rangers outshot the Blue Jackets 31-21, Halak’s tough night in the office cost them big time. With Igor Shesterkin expected to return back to the crease against the Avs, the Rangers can expect to benefit from the elite goaltending they usually expect behind them.
Shesterkin has been his phenomenal self so far this season. Through four games played, the Rangers starter is unbeaten in regulation with a 3-0-1 record and a .901 record.
Rangers Best Bet
With Shesterkin back in goal, things look good for the Rangers to bounce back and end their two game slide at home.
Colorado are still missing Gabriel Landeskog up front and are at a disadvantage in the goaltending matchup. Former Ranger Alexandar Georgiev takes on his old team and is a level below Shesterkin in terms of quality.
The Avs have yet to be their world beating selves this season and struggle in key areas you wouldn’t expect from the defending champs. Particularly with their penalty kill, which is 31st in the league at a 60.9% success rate. Leaking goals to teams on the powerplay is not a recipe to success on the road, where it is expected the home team is likely to receive the majority of man advantage opportunities.
If the Rangers can stay out of the penalty box and avoid the Avs 52.9% success rate powerplay unit, they should be able to ride Shesterkin to a win in this Avalanche vs Rangers contest. Bet the Rangers -110 on the moneyline.
