Why Bet the Bruins:
✅ The Bruins are the best team in hockey with 34 wins and just nine losses this season.
✅ Boston is still red hot as a group, winning six of their last seven games.
✅ The Islanders should struggle to score in this one as their 23rd ranked offense (three goals per game) goes up against the top ranked Bruins defense that is allowing just 2.1 goals per game.

Boston Bruins
Boston keeps rolling on as the best team in hockey, blowing out teams they should beat easily and picking up wins against fellow playoff contenders. The Bruins beat the Leafs on the weekend in a 4-3 thriller that is a likely playoff preview before blowing out the lowly Philadelphia Flyers in an easy 6-0 victory.
The win over the Leafs showcased the Bruins resolve as they had to dig deep to come from behind twice against their division rivals. In the end, the Bruins outworked the Leafs in a game they outshot their opponents 34-21 in an encouraging performance considering the likelihood the two teams will meet up once again in the postseason.
Linus Ullmark will hope to put up a better performance in the crease against the Isles than his showing against the Leafs. Ullmark made just 18 saves against the Leafs, giving up three goals in a game where his teammates worked hard to eliminate chances on net. Ullmark hasn’t had many off nights this year as he has a 1.92 GAA and .932 save percentage so expect a bounce back from him in goal against New York.
New York Islanders
The Islanders were hoping a lengthy homestand would get them back in the upper tier of the Metropolitan Division standings. Sadly, that hasn’t been the case as the team has lost three of four at home to extend their slump to a run of just two wins in the month of January.
Unfortunately for the Isles, things don’t get easier on the schedule with this matchup against the big bad Bruins. The Islanders offense is not well equipped to face a defensively tight opponent and certainly not the best defensive team in the league. Boston allows just 29 shots per game as a team and a league low 2.12 goals against.
The special teams matchup will also make things harder for the Islanders as the man advantage isn’t a guaranteed opportunity to break down the Bruins. New York’s powerplay has scored just 23 goals this season at a success rate of 17.83%. They will be facing a Bruins penalty kill that has been immense this year, conceding just 21 goals to their opponents.
Ilya Sorokin is the expected starter for the Islanders against the Bruins. Sorokin has done everything he can to keep his team in games with a .925 save percentage but hasn’t got enough support from his teammates to win games as a starter this year. The Isles are 15-14-3 in games Sorokin starts.
