Boston Bruins vs Carolina Hurricanes Game 3 (BOS Leads 2-0)
Money Line: Boston+102/Carolina-122
Puck Line: Boston-290/Carolina+237
If Game 3 of a seven-game series could ever be considered a “must-win”, it is this game for the Carolina Hurricanes. The Boston Bruins have jumped out to a 2-0 series lead with two convincing home wins, outscoring the Hurricanes 11-4.
Coming into the series, if you told Carolina that they would score four goals in their first two games in Boston, they might have taken it. Against a team as defensively sound as the Bruins, four goals in two games on the road isn’t terrible. Carolina’s defense is good enough to win a game with two goals, but they haven’t shown it yet this series.
Now at home for the first time in this series, Carolina has their backs to the wall. The series will hinge on their ability to handle adversity. Obviously, their defense needs to play better, but their offense needs to find a way to get the puck past Tuukka Rask. Rask has been playing excellent this series, especially of late.
Now that Carolina is home and down 0-2, they know this is certainly a must-win game. Carolina was down 0-2 in the first round to the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals and came back to win the series in seven games. They could do it again in this series, but Game 3 will have to be a win. Carolina has shown throughout the playoffs that they certainly belong this far. I think they will prove that again today. Carolina will play like a scared animal backed into a corner today, they will come out physical and play one of their best games of the playoffs. The defense will pick up and the offense will find a way to get an extra puck or two in the net past Rask in this one. Carolina goalie Petr Mrazek will feed off of the home crowd and play exceptional in net.
