Week 16 of the NFL season begins with the Jacksonville Jaguars visiting the New York Jets on on Thursday night. Both teams will continue to fight for a playoff spot in what oddsmakers expect to be a close and low scoring game. The Jets are set as 2 point favorites with a total of 37.5.

Why Bet The Wilson Over
โ The matchup is fantastic. The Jaguars defense has morphed over the course of the season, and not in a good way when it comes to defending scores through the air. After being scorched by Carson Wentz for four passing touchdowns in Week 1, the passing defense had a phenomenal four game stretch against opposing quarterbacks. They allowed just one passing score over four games, but that is when the wheels came off.
In the nine games since, they have allowed at least one passing score in every single game. Six of the nine games saw opponents have multiple passing touchdowns, and the average amount of passing touchdowns allowed per game during the ongoing streak is 2.2.
โ Zach Wilson gets another spot until Mike White returns to close out the year. Of course it has been an incredibly rocky sophomore campaign for Wilson, but his statistical performance has not been so awful when on the field. In fact he has been quite competent in three of his last four starts, all coming against teams with very real expectation come playoff time.
The Week 11 face plant against the Patriots that cost him his job not withstanding, the other three games have been solid. That includes a 317 yard two touchdown performance against the Lions last week. His two starts leading into that fateful Week 11 also saw at least one touchdown pass in each game. Wilson has created murkiness for his future, but enters a good spot on Thursday night to throw more touchdowns. The -205 price tag for over 0.5 touchdown passes tells the story on just how likely the outcome is, and a price I am happy to pay.

New York Jets
The Jets will aim to keep their playoff hopes alive on Thursday night as 2 point favorites at home. The 7-7 squad is in last place in the brutal AFC East, but they are still alive for a Wild Card spot. They are a game back in that regard and should have no trouble controlling their own destiny should they win out over the season’s final three weeks.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are also looking to keep their own playoff hopes alive on Thursday Night. Unlike the Jets, the 6-8 Jaguars will have something of an impossibility of securing a Wild Card spot, even if they were to win out. The Jaguars playoff hopes lie in winning the AFC South. They trail the Titans by a game but still have a matchup with the Titans yet to be played, so keeping themselves within a game is paramount.
