Offseason Transactions
Key Additions: Sam Howell, PJ Walker, Laviska Shenault, George Fant, Laken Tomlinson, Johnathan Hankins, Jerome Baker, Byron Murphy II
Key Departures: Drew Lock, DeeJay Dallas, Colby Parkinson, Will Dissly, Jason Peters, Evan Brown, Mario Edwards, Jordyn Brooks, Devin Bush, Bobby Wagner, Jamal Adams, Quandre Diggs
The Seattle Seahawks were very active this offseason, moving some veteran names out while bringing in some new talent. Sam Howell and PJ Walker are interesting additions to the Seattle quarterback room, though neither appears good enough to start over Geno Smith. But the real takeaway from this list is how many veteran defensive players the Seahawks lost. That could make things very tough on them as they look to get back into the playoffs this year.
Seattle Seahawks Offensive Stats
2023 (Rank) | 2022 (Rank) | |
---|---|---|
Yards Per Play | 5.5 (T-10th) | 5.7 (T-7th) |
Yards Per Rush Attempt | 4.1 (T-16th) | 4.8 (T-7th) |
Yards Per Pass Attempt | 7.2 (T-11th) | 7.5 (T-7th) |
Points Per Game | 21.4 (17th) | 23.9 (9th) |
Turnovers | 17 (5th) | 23 (T-17th) |
Seattle has a ton of weapons in the passing game, even if Geno Smith isn’t the most consistent at getting them the ball. The real question for this group is whether or not they can run the ball effectively enough to free up space for those weapons in the passing game vertically. Kenneth Walker III is the top running back option for this team, who averaged 4.1 yards per carry on over 200 carries last season. That average needs to improve for this group to unlock its full offensive potential.

The Seahawks were simply not good enough on defense last season to make up for their inconsistent offense. They gave up 30 or more points six times last season, which put their offense in spots where they had to do way too much to have success. Seattle moved a ton of aging players off their roster on defense in the offseason, but the question is whether anyone can step into those spots and deliver better performances.
Positives & Negatives
Seattle’s top positive going into the 2024 NFL season is the fact that they should be able to move the ball through the air effectively once again. With a great trio of receivers in DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle will simply have too many dynamic receivers for opposing teams to guard on a regular basis.
But the biggest negative for the Seahawks is a defense that should drag them down once again in 2024. Their front-seven lacks consistent playmaking ability and we expect this group to struggle to generate turnovers once again. This should result in a lot of high-scoring football games, though it might hold this team back in the win column.
2024 Seattle Seahawks Pick & Prediction: Under 7.5 Wins
For this season, we have the under for the season win total in Seattle, which is set at 7.5 wins. While this team has finished above .500 in two straight seasons with Geno Smith at the helm, we are expecting a step backward in 2024. Look for this group to finish with six or seven wins and to fail to make the playoffs, as the division around them doesn’t get any easier and the Seahawks don’t get any better on defense.
