NFL Week 6 Picks & Best Bets

It’s already Week Six of the 2019 NFL season and the schedule this week is loaded with big games, but also has its fair share of big spread games as well. The most exciting game of the week pits Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans (3-2) vs Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs (4-1). Also on the schedule is the Philadelphia Eagles (3-2) at the Minnesota Vikings (3-2), the Seattle Seahawks (4-1) at the Cleveland Browns (2-3) and the San Francisco 49ers (4-0) at the Los Angeles Rams (3-2).

The games listed above are all really exciting and they don’t include two really interesting matchups between the Carolina Panthers (3-2) vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3) and the New Orleans Saints (4-1) at the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3).

All of those games sound nice, but clearly the game of the week is the Washington Redskins (0-5) at the Miami Dolphins (0-5).

Below are my two best bets for Week Six. All lines are from FanDuel Sportsbook as of Friday October 11th.

Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs (-4): O/U 55 points scored (-110/-110)

Deshaun Watson, and the Houston Texans, erupted for 426 passing yards and six touchdowns in their 53-32 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week Five. Houston ended the game just shy of 600 total yards and dropped 37 points in the second half alone. The Texans now have wins over the Falcons and Jaguars, at home, and at the Chargers. Houston’s two losses have been at New Orleans and at home against the Panthers. The Texans are 3-2 ATS this season and the under has hit in three of their five games.

A hobbled Patrick Mahomes, and an injured Chiefs offense, could not solve the Colts defense last week as the Chiefs lost their first game of 2019. The Chiefs were able to gain 324 total yards, but were only able to get in the end zone once all game. Kansas City will now look to avoid back-to-back home losses after starting the 2019 season with wins in Jacksonville, Oakland and Detroit and a home win against Baltimore. KC is 3-2 ATS, but lost two in a row, and the over has hit in three of their five games.

Series History: The Chiefs lead the all-time series 6-4 after winning their 2017 matchup 42-34.

Game Prediction: I don’t see either team getting any stops in this one, so take over 55 points scored.

Philadelphia Eagles at Minnesota Vikings (-3): O/U 44 points scored (-110/-110)

The Philadelphia Eagles got just what the doctor ordered last week as they beat down on a lowly New York Jets team. The Eagles defense sacked QB Luke Faulk 10 times and gave up just six points in Philadelphia’s 31-6 win. Philly has now won two games in a row following a 1-2 start to the 2019 season. The Birds have wins over the Redskins, Jets and Packers and have lost to the Lions and Falcons. Philadelphia is 2-3 ATS this season, but have won their last two, and the over has hit in three of five games.

The Minnesota Vikings had a nice rebound week last week as they knocked off the New York Giants 28-10. The Vikings were in turmoil all week after falling to the Chicago Bears 16-6 the week before, but Kirk Cousins and the offense took advantage of a poor Giants defense to gain some momentum heading into this clash with Philly. Minnesota now have wins over the Falcons, Raiders and Giants and have lost to the Packers and Bears. The Vikings are 3-2 ATS and the under has hit in four of their five games.

Series History: The all-time series is tied 14-14 after the Vikings came away with a 23-21 win last season.

Game Prediction: I do not trust Kirk Cousins against real teams, so take the Eagles at +3.

YTD NFL Results: 13-14
