This game will be played at Lambeau Field at 4:25 PM ET on Sunday, October 2, 2022.
Why Bet The Patriots:
✅ Are we sure that Brian Hoyer (or whoever starts for the Patriots) is worse than Mac Jones at this point in time? Jones has two touchdown passes and five interceptions through Week 3, as the Patriots are averaging just 16.7 points per game. The Patriots are centered around their defense at this point in time, and this line is an overreaction to the Mac Jones injury.

✅ Green Bay’s offense has really struggled this season, with the exception of Week 2 against the Chicago Bears. The Bears simply cannot compete with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, while the Vikings and Buccaneers were able to hold the Packers in check for a full 60 minutes. The defense of the Patriots will figure out how to take away what the Packers do best, and will keep this game close for the majority.
✅ New England is tied for the second worst turnover margin in the league through three weeks. They have a -4 turnover differential, having given the ball away eight times so far. With Jones out, their giveaway numbers will decrease temporarily, which will help the Patriots win the field position battle more regularly en route to a cover.
New England Patriots
Last week, the New England Patriots lost at home against the Baltimore Ravens to drop to 1-2 on the year. They could not slow down Lamar Jackson, who accounted for five total touchdowns against the New England defense. This week, the Patriots will look to get back on track defensively against a Packers team whose quarterback is less of a threat to run.
New England will likely be without Mac Jones as he is likely to have surgery on his sprained ankle and miss multiple games. If that does indeed happen, Brian Hoyer and Bailey Zappe are the two remaining quarterbacks on the Patriots’ roster currently. Zappe has the higher upside for the Patriots after a prolific passing career at Western Kentucky, but Hoyer is likely to see action first given his long history in the league as a backup.
Green Bay Packers
Last week, the Green Bay Packers won a defensive battle against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road. In a 14-12 win, the Packers got a stop on a late two-point conversion attempt by Tom Brady to seal their second straight win. This week, the Packers will aim for a win over a Patriots team that will likely not have its starting quarterback in Mac Jones.
Defense should not be a huge concern for the Packers in this game, as they are at home against a backup quarterback. But Green Bay’s offense has been far from convincing outside of their beatdown of the Bears. If that does not change against the Patriots this week, things could be closer than anticipated for the Packers.
