A battle of the top-two teams in the NFC North will take place on Sunday, as the Detroit Lions host the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have a commanding lead in the division standings, but the Lions are playing some decent football of late and are slight favorites going into this contest. In our NFL predictions for Sunday, we break down Vikings vs Lions from Detroit.

This game will be played at Ford Field at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, December 11, 2022.
Why Bet The Lions:
✅ Despite the huge difference in records here, the Lions have been playing some stellar football lately. They have won two out of their last three games, nearly beating the Bills for a clean sweep in those three games. They will keep playing well with a win here.
✅ The Detroit defense is improving gradually, as it went from giving up over 30 points per game to averaging just 27 points per game allowed going into Week 14. They still have the worst scoring defense in the NFL, but they have tightened things up of late, which will help them pick up this victory.
✅ From a line reading perspective, bettors should be wary of the Vikings in this spot. They lead the NFC North by five games, yet are a one-point underdog coming into this game. The line speaks to the Lions being a better play in this game, and bettors should act accordingly.

Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings claimed a home win in Week 13, beating the New York Jets in a tight game. Minnesota had a huge lead in that contest, but nearly blew it down the stretch, holding on with a late interception of Mike White. Here, the Vikings will hope for an easier afternoon for all four quarters, but they will need to stop a surging Lions offense to make that happen.
Minnesota will have to like its chances to score in big numbers against the Lions, who have the worst scoring defense in the NFL. Justin Jefferson is always a threat against any defense, but could have a massive day against a Lions team that has improved on defense but still has a long way to go.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions picked up a second win in three games in their last outing, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars in blowout fashion at home. This week, the Lions remain at home for a third straight week, which they hope will lead to their third win in four games. With the Lions getting healthy on offense, their recent turnaround could continue here.
The returns of Amon-Ra St. Brown and D’Andre Swift have helped the Lions remain multi-dimensional on offense like we saw during the early portion of the year. If that continues against the Vikings, Detroit could pick up another win and deal the rival Vikings a significant loss for playoff seeding purposes.
