Offseason Transactions

The biggest moves for the Rams this offseason came on the defensive side of the ball. They brought in Tre’Davious White to help their secondary, while drafting a very interesting prospect (and former UAlbany Great Dane) in Florida State’s Jared Verse. But losing Aaron Donald to retirement will be a huge blow to this defense, while there will be questions about the longevity of White given his recent injury history in Buffalo.

Given that Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford both dealt with some injuries last season, the fact that the Rams performed admirably on offense as a whole is very impressive. If the main pieces for this group can stay on the field throughout this coming season, they could be even better, which could mean better seeding and a path to go deeper in the postseason. Adding Blake Corum in the draft is very intriguing as well given how good he was in the backfield at Michigan.

Defense is going to be the question mark for the Rams this coming season. They lost one of the greatest defenders in the history of the sport in Aaron Donald in the offseason, when the surefire Hall of Famer announced his retirement. Given their struggles getting takeaways last season, losing a player like Donald who can impact the opposing running and passing games will be a significant blow, with the question being how the Rams overcome that.
Positives & Negatives
A potential return to a healthy Rams football team is the biggest positive for this franchise heading into the 2024 NFL season. Los Angeles should have Stafford and Kupp on the field together for most of this year, which should be bad news for defenses around the rest of the league. As long as that does not change, we will have high expectations for the Rams going forward.
But the glaring negative for the Rams this year is the Aaron Donald-sized hole in this defense. Sean McVay’s team is going to need to find a group of players to replace his production on aggregate, as no one player can do all of the things that Donald does. That is a monumental task for a team to accomplish so soon after a player like that retires.
2024 Los Angeles Rams Pick & Prediction: Over 8.5 Wins
We are a little worried about the Rams on the defensive side of the ball this season. But we also think Jared Verse could be a contender for Defensive Rookie of the Year in the NFL in 2024. That, combined with a lethal offense, should make the Rams a contender to win around 10 games this season. Our best bet for the Rams is to take the over on their season win total at 8.5.
