Week 10 of the NFL season concludes on Monday Night Football with the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Washington Commanders in an NFC East matchup. The Eagles currently sit atop the division, the Conference and the league, with a perfect 8-0 record. The Commanders are in the unfortunate spot of being in the most difficult division in the league. Their 4-5 record has them in the NFC East cellar, and currently a full game behind the last Wild Card spot. This is a very tough spot for them against what is widely considered the league’s best team and something of a must win game.
The Commanders had something of difficulty on both sides of the ball early on in the season. Their defense allowed 25.6 points per game over their first five games, but have been far more effective in the last four. That figure dipped to 16 points per game over the last four. That defense has allowed them to win three of four games, despite getting just 17.8 points per game from the offense.
The Eagles are a significant 10.5 point favorite in this spot. The line is not as wide as some might expect and the scoring defense of the Commanders could be the difference in both which team covers and how the game script plays out.
Jalen Hurts Player Prop
Hurts has clearly been fantastic this season and his rapport with high end offseason acquisition AJ Brown has been superb. We know Hurts is a dual threat and certainly gets the job done running the ball in essentially every game. This season he has gotten it done throwing the ball as well, and has been great any time any level of passing volume was called upon.
Hurts has more than 25 pass attempts in 6 of 8 games this season. He has thrown for at least 239 in every single one of those games and averaged 280.5 passing yards in those games. It should be noted his best passing game of the season came against this same Commanders team in Week 3. He dropped 340 passing yards on 35 attempts, his second highest volume game of the season.
In this matchup, the Commanders are in the top half of the league in terms of rushing yardage allowed per game, but they are bottom half on the passing side. Their scoring defense has been quite sound, but that will not help in terms of yardage. In that first matchup, the Commanders bottled up Miles Sanders and the rushing attack for his worst output of the season. In that rushing absence, Hurts thrived and we should see a repeat on Monday Night. With the Hurts passing yardage prop set at 243.5 yards, we will attack that over.
Betting Pick: Jalen Hurts Over 243.5 Passing Yards
