Overall, the Cardinals had a decent offseason, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Bringing in some defenders at key positions should make them a little better, even if they mostly broke even in terms of skill position acquisition offensively. Along with their roster moves, simply having a full year of a healthy Kyler Murray will be huge for this team.

It isn’t easy to judge the Cardinals offense last season, as they had to deal with an injury to Kyler Murray for a chunk of the season. But this Cardinals team was good at avoiding turnovers, even if they weren’t consistent when it came to putting points on the board. If that continues and Murray can develop a nice rapport with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Zay Jones right away, the Cardinals could be decent offensively this year.

On defense, the Cardinals were terrible in 2023, ranking in the bottom-five in most key defensive categories. They struggled to generate turnovers, were on the field way longer than they would have liked, and gave up more points than everyone but the Washington Commanders. But this side of the ball is one where we expect major improvement for the Cardinals this year, thanks to acquisitions like that of Murphy-Bunting in the secondary.
Positives & Negatives
The biggest positive for the Cardinals going into the 2024 season is that their franchise quarterback is expected to play a full season of football. There is no guarantee whatsoever that Kyler Murray will play all season, of course. But entering the year with him on the field will at least give them the chance for that to happen, which means plenty of cause for optimism for the Arizona offense.
On the negative side, rushing production is a huge concern of ours with this Cardinals team. James Conner is approaching 30 years of age and his touchdown totals have dropped off over the last couple of years. If he regresses at all with age, the Cardinals offense could be more one-dimensional than they would like it to be.
2024 Arizona Cardinals Pick & Prediction: Over 6.5 Wins
Believe it or not, we are optimistic about the Arizona Cardinals going into 2024. They finally have a healthy starting quarterback this season and they have made some upgrades on defense that should benefit them going into this year. We will take the over for the Cardinals this season as they should have a respectable season out of the NFC West, barring another Murray injury.
