This game will be played at Bank of America Stadium at 4:05 PM ET on Sunday, October 2, 2022.
Why Bet The Panthers:
✅ The defense of the Arizona Cardinals has been a complete liability so far this season, ranking dead last in yards per play allowed. They are giving up 6.7 yards per play, and are giving 29.0 points per game, which ranks 31st in the NFL through three weeks. While the Panthers are by no means an elite offensive team, the Cardinals will struggle to get stops here, as they have all season.

✅ Arizona has not been much better from an offensive efficiency standpoint, averaging just 4.8 yards per play. Only the Cowboys, Steelers, Texans, and Bengals have been worse in that area. Against a Carolina defense that is tied for 10th in the league in yards per play allowed, the Cardinals will continue to operate in a less than efficient manner offensively.
✅ Only one quarterback is averaging fewer yards per pass attempt than Kyler Murray so far this season. That would be Mitch Trubisky, who is clearly a transitional option for the Steelers at quarterback as they get Kenny Pickett ready to take the starting job in the future. Murray’s struggles will continue on the road here against a respectable Carolina defense.
Arizona Cardinals
Last week, the Arizona Cardinals lost once again to their nemesis, the Los Angeles Rams. That was the 11th time in 12 meetings with the Rams that the Cardinals came up short, with the Cardinals unable to come back from the early 13-0 deficit they ended up in. This week, a stronger start will once again be necessary, after the Cardinals have fallen behind in all three of their games to start the year.
So far this season, the Cardinals have been woefully inefficient both through the air and on the ground. James Conner has the lowest yards per carry average among qualifying NFL running backs this season, while Kyler Murray has one of the lowest yards per attempt averages among quarterbacks. To get a win on the road here, the Cardinals will need someone to be more explosive.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers got their first win of the season last week, beating the New Orleans Saints at home to move to 1-2 on the year. The defense of the Panthers was excellent against New Orleans, forcing three turnovers and helping their offense hold onto a 13-point halftime lead. This week, the Panthers will aim for another strong start against a Cardinals team that has been notorious for slow starts so far this season.
The Panthers will need a more efficient performance from Baker Mayfield if they are going to start a winning streak here. Mayfield has completed 51.9% of his passes this year, the third worst completion rate of qualifying NFL quarterbacks through three weeks. Improved passing accuracy will be key for this game, and the rest of the season in Carolina.
