Men’s 2019 Libema Open Betting Preview, Odds & Prediction

The French Open just completed and so goes another great clay court season, but tennis never sleeps and some of the top players in the world are back in action this week. Grass season is upon us and the season’s third Grand Slam is less than one month away. This week the men head to the Netherlands for the Libema Open.

Last season the semifinals consisted of three unseeded players, one qualifier, and the #2 seed Richard Gasquet. In the first semifinal Jeremy Chardy knocked off Matthew Ebden 6-4 7-5, to set up a final with fellow Frenchman Richard Gasquet. Gasquet, who all played an Australian, knocked off Bernard Tomic 6-4 -6-7(8) 6-2. In the final it was Gasquet who came away with the 6-3 7-6(5) win to lift the 2018 Rosmalen Grass Court Championship trophy. Chardy, Gasquet and Ebden all return to the main draw in 2019 while Bernard Tomic chose not to play this week.

Semifinal and Championship Prediction

The first semifinal will be #1 Stefanos Tsitsipas vs #6 Frances Tiafoe. I do not see anyone in the top half of the bracket really bothering the Greek sensation this week. A potential quarterfinal against defending champion, #8 Richard Gasquet, could be tricky, but the Frenchman is still searching for his game since coming back from injury. I like Frances Tiafoe to cruise to the quarterfinals where he will take out the tricky #3 Alex de Minaur and advance to the semis.

The second semifinal will be #2 Borna Coric vs #5 David Goffin. Coric potentially has a tough second round match against Taylor Fritz, but I like the Croat to get the win there and then cruise to the semifinals. Goffin also has a tough second round opponent, potentially, in Pierre-Hugues Herbert, but I like Goffin to get past Herbert and then to knock out #4 Fernando Verdasco in the quarterfinals.

The final will be #6 Frances Tiafoe vs #2 Borna Coric with Coric starting his grass season with a title.
