The Utah Jazz and Dallas Mavericks played a low-scoring opening game to their first round series in the NBA Playoffs. With Luka Doncic out for Game 1, and doubtful for Game 2, the offenses in this game could be operating at less than 100% efficiency again on Monday night. In our NBA predictions for Monday, we look at Jazz vs Mavericks Game 2 in what could be another defensive battle.

Jazz vs Mavericks Game 2 Betting Pick
This game will be played at American Airlines Center at 8:30 PM ET on Monday, April 18, 2022.
Why Bet The Jazz:
✅ The Jazz have the upper hand in this matchup thanks to the absence of Luka Doncic for the Mavericks. Luka is doubtful to take part in the second game of this series, with Dallas failing to break 100 with him out of action in Game 1. Here, the Jazz should be able to hold the Mavs in check once again and cover the number en route to their second straight road win in the series.
✅ Utah has plenty of room to improve offensively in Game 2, and should be able to do just that. Donovan Mitchell shot a miserable 10/29 from the field in Game 1, and Royce O’Neale shot 1/5, while Rudy Gobert attempted just one field goal. They will play closer to their usual standards in Game 2 and should be able to create some separation against the Mavericks.

✅ Utah dominated the glass in the first game of this series, grabbing 54 rebounds to just 34 for the Mavericks. Without Luka to create a rebounding advantage from the guard spots, Rudy Gobert’s advantage over Dwight Powell is the most prominent matchup edge on the glass. The Jazz will continue to crush Dallas in the rebounding department and that will help them cover the number once again.
Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz won Game 1 of their first round series against the Dallas Mavericks, covering the spread in the process. That game was tight throughout, with the Jazz taking a two-point lead into halftime and holding on down the stretch. In this game, the Jazz will need to be better on the offensive end of the floor if they want to come away with a win to take a 2-0 series lead.
Donovan Mitchell’s performance in particular will need to be better in this game than it was in Game 1. Mitchell scored 32 points, but was a woefully inefficient 10/29 from the field to drag down the field goal percentage of his team. If he can get closer to 50% from the field, the Jazz have the potential to run away with this series.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks were without Luka Doncic in their series opener against the Utah Jazz, and the absence of Doncic cost them dearly. They scored just 93 points in Game 1, failing to take advantage of an admirable defensive performance against one of the better offenses in the NBA. Now, the Mavericks face a potential 2-0 deficit if they cannot generate some offense in the second game of this series.
Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie have been asked to step up and fill the void left by Doncic on the offensive end of the floor. In Game 1, they went 15/39 from the floor combined, which is not efficient enough without one of the best players in the world to prop them up. If the Mavs’ main guard duo cannot up their game in Game 2, this series could be in danger of getting away from Dallas in a hurry.
