The two New York basketball teams in the NBA will face off on Wednesday night when the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets square off at Barclays Center. Both teams come into this game having opened their season in underwhelming fashion. But after the Election Day break, both teams will aim to get back on track starting with this contest. In our NBA predictions for Wednesday night, we break down Knicks vs Nets in an all-New York clash.
Knicks vs Nets Betting Pick
This game will be played at Barclays Center at 7:30 PM ET on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
Why Bet The Knicks:
✅ The Nets are still without Kyrie Irving as he must go through the steps the NBA and the Nets have set for him after his off-court pursuits landed him in hot water. Without Irving, the Nets are a disaster at the point guard spot, as we could see Ben Simmons running the point for most of this game without many other options.
✅ Julius Randle is beginning to find his stroke for the Knicks after a slow start to the season. Randle has averaged 30 points per game over the last two games for the Knicks, shooting better than 50% in both contests. He will not match Kevin Durant’s scoring, but he will continue to play well here.
✅ The frontcourt depth of the Nets is in bad shape right now, with Yuta Watanabe and T.J. Warren both out. We could see a good bit of Markieff Morris at the four or five in this game, which is not great for the Nets chances of winning here.

New York Knicks
The New York Knicks won their last game before the Election Day hiatus, blowing out the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night. The three-point shooting of the Knicks was incredible in that game, with Julius Randle leading the Knicks with 31 points. Here, Randle and the Knicks aim to take advantage of a shorthanded Nets team in a nationally televised contest.
For the Knicks, defending the three-point line will be key in this game. The Nets are shorthanded, but they have plenty of shooters such as Joe Harris and Seth Curry that have the potential to step up and help Kevin Durant here. If the Knicks can limit those outside shooters around Durant, it could be a big night for them in the Big Apple.
Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets went 4-7 prior to Election Day, with plenty of concerns about their viability as a title contender being exposed early in the season. To make matters worse, Kyrie Irving is set to miss time until he can satisfy the requirements set for him after his social media conduct drew scrutiny early in the season. Now, the Nets will look to beat the Knicks despite missing their starting point guard and playing with an interim coach.
Brooklyn simply needs some help around Kevin Durant on a consistent basis right now. Without Irving’s scoring, the Nets lack a reliable second hand behind KD, though Seth Curry showed last year that he is capable of filling the void on occasion. Curry will be huge for the Nets here if they want to beat a Knicks team that is not great, but is solid up and down.
