Grizzlies vs Knicks Betting Pick
This game will be played at 7:30 PM ET at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
Why Bet The Grizzlies:
✅ The Memphis Grizzlies are the number one team in the NBA at covering the point spread this season. They are 34-19 against the spread on the year, and 16-11 against the spread as a favorite. That kind of proficiency at covering the number is not shared by the Knicks, who are a below .500 team against the spread on the year.
✅ New York doesn’t have a defender that can keep up with Ja Morant at the point guard position, as Kemba Walker is a liability on defense and backups like Alec Burks and Immanuel Quickley aren’t much better. Morant should be able to breach the Knicks’ defense regularly, setting up shooters as the Knicks have to overcompensate for the dynamic Grizzlies point guard.

✅ Home court advantage has not been advantageous to the Knicks this season, as they have a losing record at Madison Square Garden on the season. The Knicks are 11-13 at home on the year, and should drop to 11-14 at home once they lose this game to the red-hot Memphis Grizzlies.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies had a three-game winning streak snapped in their last outing, losing in overtime to the Philadelphia 76ers. Philadelphia had the luxury of a mismatch featuring Joel Embiid in that game, which the Grizzlies were unable to answer when they needed to most. Fortunately for the Grizzlies, no such interior mismatch exists in this game, which should allow them to let Ja Morant and their shooters shine against a questionable Knicks defense.
Morant is leading the Grizzlies with 26.4 points per game and 6.8 assists per contest. He has been sensational at getting into the lane and making plays both for himself and his teammates, putting him firmly in this year’s MVP discussion as the All-Star break approaches. Against the Knicks, Morant should play well as they lack the perimeter defenders to slow his forays into the paint.
New York Knicks
The New York Knicks broke a three-game losing streak in their last time out, beating a hobbled Sacramento Kings team convincingly at home. In this game, though, the Knicks will face a much tougher opponent, especially with Ja Morant active the way that De’Aaron Fox was not when the Knicks beat the Kings on Monday. For New York, defending Morant and the perimeter will be key on Wednesday night.
Also key will be the performances of RJ Barrett and Julius Randle, whose lack of consistency has been a huge problem for the Knicks this season. Both players have shown flashes of what they are capable of this year, but have failed to provide them as consistently as they did a year ago. To avoid the Knicks’ season slipping away, they will need to operate at a high level once again.
