Key Storylines
- The Pistons come in off a four-game win streak and are 6-2 overall. They are in second place in the Eastern Conference standings and will look to continue their winning ways against the lowly Nets in this game.
- Detroit’s frontcourt duo of Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson has been dominant on the boards and inside. Detroit has a tangible physical edge over most teams they face and will be expected to have that edge again here.
- The Nets ended a seven-game losing streak to start the season with a 112-103 win over the Indiana Pacers in their last game. But that win came without leading scorer Cam Thomas (hamstring) and Thomas is expected to miss this game as well.
- Brooklyn is looking for its second win in a row tonight. They are also looking for their first home win of the season after an 0-4 start at Barclays Center.
- This game is part of the NBA Cup group stage and is the first cup game for either of these teams this season.

Final Thoughts
The contrarian in me absolutely wants to take Brooklyn as a big home underdog here. But my projections have the Pistons winning this game by double-digits and covering the spread with some room to spare. The lack of Cam Thomas in the Nets’ lineup will be devastating for an offense that was already struggling with Thomas on the floor. I’ll lay the points with the Pistons at Barclays Center tonight.
