Hornets vs Bucks Betting Pick
This game will be played at Fiserv Forum at 8:00 PM ET on Monday, February 28, 2022.
Why Bet The Bucks:
✅ The Hornets are simply not good enough defensively to be trusted in a game like this, especially on the second leg of a back to back. The Hornets couldn’t get a late stop against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night, and struggled to defend the paint and the glass. Those areas will be exploited in a big way by Giannis Antetokounmpo on Monday night.
✅ LaMelo Ball had a dismal offensive game against the Pistons, and may not fare much better here for the Charlotte Hornets. Jrue Holiday is a quality defensive point guard, and will make Ball work for everything that he gets. He will force Ball to rely too heavily on the perimeter shot, with Ball being much more effective when he can penetrate and orchestrate for others.

✅ Charlotte has lost 10 of its last 12 games, and has looked completely lost lately. Mason Plumlee will have to guard Bobby Portis when he is on the floor, which will mean having to guard the perimeter. For a team that is already struggling, the Bucks are simply not a good matchup for the Hornets.
Charlotte Hornets
Charlotte suffered a devastating loss on Sunday night against the Detroit Pistons, losing at the buzzer in overtime to one of the worst teams in the NBA. The Hornets were not able to rebound the basketball late in the game, giving Detroit several second chances that allowed the Pistons to hang around and steal the game. Now the Hornets are tasked with playing the second leg of a back to back against the defending champions, which is not an enviable assignment.
For the Hornets to have a chance in this game, they will need to do better at securing defensive rebounds. Charlotte would have blown the Pistons out if they did not give up second chance opportunity after second chance opportunity. If the Hornets allow Giannis and the Bucks to do the same thing, it could get ugly in Milwaukee on Monday night.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks suffered an embarrassing loss of their own over the weekend, getting beaten by the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night at home. Brooklyn was without Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons, but still managed to beat the Bucks with Kyrie Irving and a cast of role players. The Bucks will look to put that loss behind them on Monday night against a vulnerable Hornets team.
Defensive intensity will be the key for the Bucks in this game against Charlotte, as the Hornets do have the potential to put up big numbers on the offensive end. Milwaukee should be able to get whatever it wants offensively in this game in their own right, but they do not want to end up in a shootout with the Hornets here. Jrue Holiday will be especially important on defense, as slowing down LaMelo Ball would give the Bucks a huge edge.
