Celtics vs Heat Game 1 Betting Pick
This game will be played at FTX Arena at 8:30 PM ET on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
On Tuesday night, the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat will kick off their Eastern Conference Finals series. Both teams have been very impressive in the playoffs so far, but only one team will start this series off with a victory. In our NBA predictions for Tuesday night, we look at Celtics vs Heat Game 1 in a contest where both defenses are expected to shine.
Why Bet The Heat:
✅ The Miami Heat are a perfect 6-0 at home in the 2022 NBA Playoffs, winning three games each against the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers at FTX Arena. They are going to continue to win at home against a Celtics team that is not as good as they looked in the last round against the Milwaukee Bucks.
✅ The reason Boston is not as good as it looked against the Bucks is the fact that the Celtics were pushed to seven games against a Bucks team missing its second best player. Without Khris Middleton, the Bucks were much easier to defend than they would normally be. Against a more complete team in the Miami Heat, playing well on the road will not be as easy for the Celtics.

✅ Boston is 2-1 against the Heat this season, but Miami was missing Max Strus for one of those games and Jimmy Butler for another. The Heat are missing Kyle Lowry for this game, but they have all of their other key figures healthy for this game, which will help them grab the lead in this series after Game 1.
Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics needed seven games to beat the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. But they enjoyed a no-sweat victory at home in that Game 7, as they made 22 of their 55 three-point shot attempts and took advantage of the defensive game plan of the Bucks. Against another great defense in Miami, the Celtics will once again need to take what the defense gives them if they are going to take a 1-0 series lead.
For Boston, the key to this game is going to be their outside shooting once again. Bam Adebayo and the rest of the Miami defense routinely makes things difficult on teams looking to score in the paint. If Jayson Tatum, Grant Williams, and the rest of the Celtics cannot heat up from long distance, Boston will be looking at an early series deficit.
Miami Heat
The Miami Heat enjoyed a weekend off after beating the Philadelphia 76ers in six games in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. After home teams won each of the first five games of that series, the Heat blew Philadelphia out in Philadelphia in Game 6 to seal the series. Now, the Heat will have to breach one of the best defenses in the NBA if they want to win the East and make it to the NBA Finals.
Fortunately for the Heat, they are playing at such a high level at home that they should be able to win Game 1. Miami is undefeated at home in the playoffs so far, and the team is getting scoring from all angles at FTX Arena. As long as that continues in this series, the Heat will be favorites to make the Finals.
