UFC Vegas 62 is a Fight Night card that will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. This Fight Night card has a decent enough main event and a solid amount of intriguing fighters and well-made fights. There are a couple of truly riveting matchups on this card. There is also an unfortunate matchup to kick off the card with a non UFC caliber fighter, se we have a mix.
UFC Vegas 62 takes place on Saturday, October 15st, 2022. The fight card is scheduled for 12 fights. The first fighters are scheduled to make the walk to the octagon at 4PM EST. UFC Vegas 61 will be a steaming card. We will not have any televised portions. Both the prelims and the main card will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+.
With the promotion back at the UFC Apex, we will see the comparatively smaller sized octagon in use. This tends to give a slight edge to fighters that prefer grappling and a higher level of engagement.

Quick Look Back
UFC Vegas 61 was not a great night from a betting perspective, as the plays went just 1-2. We started the night with Randy Costa making a mistake in the first round and being submitted without hooks by Guido Cannetti. Costa is still dynamic, but I believe there is something lacking in his mental approach at this juncture. We then got our easy win on the card as Raoni Barcelos was dominant against Trevin Jones. The main event was the surprising loss.
Mackenzie Dern owned two rounds on the mat, and it was shocking only one judge gave her one single 10-8 round. The fight should have been a draw or a nod to Dern for the mat dominance in those rounds, but that would not have mattered for our bet. The even more surprising thing was Dernโs inability to submit Xiaonan, despite being quite close on multiple occasions. The Dern ITD play did not come to fruition.
UFC Vegas 62 Fight Card
UFC Vegas 62 gives us a mixed bag of expectation. We have a solid main event in the womenโs flyweight division, if not an overwhelmingly strong one. We have a decent co-main event that will put some sound striking on display. Leading into that there are at least four very intriguing fights that will be fun to see how they play out.
Main Event
The UFC Vegas 62 main event comes at womenโs flyweight. Alexa Grasso is a -220 favorite over Viviane Aruajo. This line is wider than the first time this fight was booked. The widening of the line is likely due to the five round aspect of the main event. Araujo has something of a reputation for slowing later on in three round fights, and now is tasked with five rounds. I am not sure that label is fair, but we should get all the answers about her gas tank on Saturday.
Araujo is certainly a fast starter. She is quicker and more dynamic early on in fights. Araujo does visibly slow, but I find that her slowing is more of an optical effect in the moments of lesser activity. She pushes through and is able to continue to score points and win later rounds. Araujo will be the somewhat larger and stronger fighter in this matchup. She will be looking to close the distance. She will be happy to clinch and her advantage in the wrestling could come into play there. Araujo has a slight grappling edge on the mat as well.
Alexa Grasso is a crisp striker that has found her proper weight class. She is now 3-1 since jumping up to flyweight and foregoing the cut to 115 lbs. She is a striker that does well on both the lead foot and back foot. That could very well come into play in this fight as I believe she will be pressured early and often by Araujo. Her ability to land off the back foot could win her this fight. Grasso is also a fighter whose fights have usually seen the scorecards, and that is likely going to happen once again. I do believe Grasso will be taken down in this fight, and I believe she loses at least one round if not more as a result. Her best bet is to stay at range and keep this a points fight.
How To Approach Or Avoid The Main Event
This is a main event that could go either way, meaning a betting line north of -200 puts the value side on the underdog. The scoring of close rounds could very well be the difference in the fight, so this is certainly a main event to steer clear of from a betting perspective.
Co-Main Event
The co-main event features strikers from differing generations. Jonathan Martinez is a -205 favorite over Cub Swanson in this bantamweight matchup.
Swanson has had a resurgence of late, bouncing back from a four fight losing streak. He has since won three of four, two of which coming by way of knockout. Swanson at 38 years old is still quite game to stand and bang with his opponents. This willingness dates back to WEC before the UFC, starting in 2007. We will see Swanson bring his boxing heavier approach, and with it a need for the fight to play out in boxing range. If this fight is decided with boxing, Swanson has a great chance to pull off the upset. He has shown his power is not lost of late, and it is not that long ago we saw Jonathan Martinez knocked out by Davey Grant with a punch.
Martinez brings a far more varied striking attack. He uses kicks far more and his best weapon is probably his kicks to the body. He will be the quicker mover and will have a very successful fight if he is able to dictate range. If the striking exchanges become more boxing heavy, he truly could have some issues.
Either fighter could score a knockout here, but the most likely outcome is this fight being left in the hands of the judges. Martinez should be a slight favorite, but the line is too wide and the value side is on Swanson. If you are truly itching for action on this fight, the Swanson +370 ITD line is the best value to attack.
Remainder Of UFC Vegas 62 Fight Card
We have some bangers and intriguing fights on the remainder of the card. On the main card, Askar Askarov vs Brandon Royval will be the peopleโs main event. More on this fight later. We will have a race to a finish in the Dusko Todorovic vs Brandon Wright matchup. We will also see if Misha Cirkunov can withstand the power of Alonzo Menifield as Cirkunov moves back to light heavyweight. On the undercard, we will see if Rafa Assuncao has anything left in the tank as he takes on all action Victor Henry. We get a wrestling heavy matchup in Jakob Malkoun vs Nick Maximov. Sadly, we also have to see Mike Jackson in another UFC fight, hopefully it is his last one.
UFC Vegas 62 Bet Sheet
With only 12 fights and one that Mike Jackson ruins with his opponent having an ITD line around -300, we do not have the normal volume of fights to choose from. Even still, we have a pair of betting picks on the main card portion. We will be attacking a strong value ITD plays along with the best underdog on the card.
