Kennedy Nzechukwu vs Ion Cutelaba Fight Odds
Kennedy Nzechukwu -175 vs Ion Cutelaba
Fight is at 205 lbs ad is -275 to end inside the distance.
Kennedy Nzechukwu snapped a two fight losing streak in his last fight. He took the path of least resistance in the wrestling and grappling realm against Karl Roberson. Nzechukwu is a fighter that has gone from very raw to only partially raw. The stature of Nzechukwu remains insanely impressive. He is 6’5” tall with a massive 83” reach. He is certainly going to be the taller and rangier fighter, and he will have to use that if he is to find success in this matchup. For a man his size, Nzechukwu does not pack the biggest power in his hands. His best and clear course of attack in this fight will be trying to keep his opponent from entering the pocket to prevent both brawling and takedown attempts. We will see a fighter that is fighting for points in this matchup, and additionally the hope that the cardio of his opponent fails, which is not ideal for -175 favorite.

Ion Cutelaba is the more compactly built and more aggressive fighter in this matchup. If looking solely at record, Cutelaba does not boast an impressive mark in the UFC. He is 5-7-1, but the record looks better when digging a little deeper. He has essentially only lost to fighters with developed skill sets and high end ones at that. The list includes Cirkunov (in 2016), Cannonier, Texeira, Ankalaev twice, Spann and Walker. When looking at that list, there is not a single loss that is an indictment on a fighter that currently sits outside the rankings.
Cutelaba is something of a powerhouse wrestler that wings bombs in the standup. His wrestling is quite effective when he uses it. He has done well to pivot from his Greco-Roman background to freestyle in the cage. Over the last five years and a 10 fight span, Cutelaba has taken down every single opponent on which he attempted a takedown. He also has ample power that he is not shy about using. Cutelaba will bull his way forward and throw massive shots with fight ending intention. He has had cardio issues in the past, but showed he has addressed those, at least on some level. He had a wrestling heavy grueling decision win over Devin Clark a year ago that brings pause to labeling Cutelaba a fighter with gas tank issues.
What To Bet
This fight will playout with the longer Nzechukwu fighting off the back foot and just trying to touch Cutelaba as often as possible. Cutelaba will be the pressuring fighter and the one throwing and landing the more significant shots. It will be interesting how the judges score significance and damage versus volume in this one, but damage has been getting the nod more often than not lately. We will also see Cutelaba the fighter live for both a finish and round stealing ground control time. Take the value of Cutelaba at +155 with multiple paths to victory.
Betting Pick: Cutelaba +155
